Friend bought a vostro 1500 and at the time or order did not check the $79 2 year warranty with onsite service.
He just got the laptop today.
I've been calling for the last 2 hours trying to add that now since he forgot to do it and for the love of God, no one knows what to do.
Customer support keeps sending me to Extended warranty services and they keep saying they can't do anything since Vostro is new and they have no pricing and then they transfer me back to CS who can't do anything either.
Now trying sales...... any other ideas?
-
Yeah I was like "awesome" when I saw that for 80 bucks.
-
Keep trying until you get someone who knows whats going on, or alternatively call the sales rep who placed your order.
I had similar issues with Dell reps never even hearing of Vostro, I actually had a CSR tell me I had them confused with another company and do not sell Vostro notebooks. -
$80 is actually a really good deal.
not only you get extra year (2 years total) but you also get On-site Next day!
Personally, 2 years for me a long time. -
Eh, I opted not to get an extended warranty at all...
-
I want to add CompleteCare to my warranty and I have no luck figuring this out. I have filled out the online form multiple times and never get a response. If you find a phone number let us know. This is frustrating the heck out of me.

WOW. JUST WOW. This is unbelievable.
Talked to 2 customer service reps.
Talked to 3 Waranty Extension reps
Talked to 2 sales reps
Talked to 2 Returns and Resolutions reps
and I have not been able to add the $79 1 year warranty extention with onsite service.
How hard is that, "hello, I forgot to check the $79 1 year extention with onsite service and I'd like to add that to my laptop".
Customer support says they have no access to such info and can't do anything about it.
Warranty extensions is telling me that they don't even have pricing on Vostro extensions yet, and to check back in 6 months but the warranty won't be $79, it'd be extra.
Sales told me they can't add anything and I need to talk to Returns and resolutions.
Returns and Resolutions tells me the ONLY option is to return the laptop and re-order?
WHAT!? They want to take back a used laptop instead of charging me $79 and just putting a warranty on my laptop?
Can we get any more ridiculous? -
a rep from small business is currently trying to add on the 2 year warranty/onsite for me. Apparently, its a process that takes 24 to 48 hrs to see whether or not they can add it for me.
I should know by tomorow -
I'm just AMAZED that something so simple, that my friend will actually be paying for is yet so complicated to do.
Just amazing. -
I hear ya. I'm going through the same thing. I should have checked that box to begin with as well. I thought I'd be proactive so they couldn't use some stupid excuse about me having received it already so can't add on the warranty or something dumb like that, so I called while it is currently in transit.
After going through three reps, the last guy says he can't do it until I get the laptop and get the service tag. Surprisingly they can't look up the service tag based on my customer number (wtf?). Now when I get it, they will probably say I should have added it before it arrived, now I'm SOL. -

Way to lose $79 Dell, congrats. -
Even with an m1330 it took me three emails, two chats and three phone calls to find someone that could actually add complete care to my computer. Once I found the right person it was easy. (She wanted to extend my warranty an extra 2 years to make it a 5 year warranty. Are these guys nuts, why would you warranty a notebook for 5 years, that would basically guarantee me a new notebook at some point in time.)

Dell just called me about an Inspiron I have that has a warrenty that was about to expire and the price was almost the same as when I bought it a year ago.
For the love of God, I just want to add the 2 Yr warranty?
