I was told my Vostro 1500 will come with the XP professional dvd. However, for those of you who did not receive your media, you can go to https://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form to get copies of them.
I just ordered copies of my XP Media Center 2005 for the desktop I bought last year from them. We'll see if I get them or not.
-
Thanks!
Just ordered some for my last desktop I got from them in September, and once I get my Vostro tomorrow i'll order the vista backup. Is there anyway to find your service tag before you receive the laptop itself? -
Not that I know of.
-
OK, then i'll just wait. Thanks again, and I hope they come.
-
Posting so I can find this later.
-
What OS did you order? From the sounds of it, Vista does not come with the discs, but XP does.
-
Vista Home Premium is what I got.
-
Did you guys receive the serial number stickers on your laptops? or were those absent too?
-
You most likely will not get your discs with your laptop then. If it is still in build, call your sales rep and ask them to make sure you get copies.
I have not yet received my laptop. It is currently in boxing. -
i got a vista dvd with my 1520....

yay posting to find this later aswell
-
But I heard many ppl mentioning they got the Vista DVD (the Recovery one) with their laptop..... It would be nice if they give the OEM disc instead of the Recovery one but I guess both can be used to do a fresh install right ??
-
Thanks, will need this to get rid of the bloatware.
-
Does anybody know if UK Dell does a similar thing to this? I couldn't find the same page on the European Dell site.
-
I would like to know this as well!
-
i received the Vista Basic OEM reinstallation, not recovery, DVD with my laptop.
-
It's looking like Inspiron's come with them and Vostro's don't then.I'm waiting for my laptop. It was delivered to the shipping company this morning.
-
I still dont know what i got.. m so busy with the laptop itself
-
When I received my 1520, it came with a Vista recovery CD, but essentially it was just a Windows Vista Home Premium cd - just a fancy title given to the disc by Dell.
-
I assume all the drivers will be on this disc?
-
drivers and applications are on a separate disk Dell provides.
-
I find it odd that my 1400 did not come with a Vista cd/dvd. Isn't that something a small business would want to have on hand?
I requested a copy yesterday and replied to an email saying that their records show I was sent a copy. But unless I am borderline retarded, I don't think it was sent to me. -
They replied to me saying that I should have received a copy (which I didn't). I let them know that was not true, and that I didn't receive any backup disks except for my Webcam reinstall disc. This is the reply I just received:
Woot, i'm getting my discs! -
Watch your Dell account closely. I was told that my discs would be shipped to me with no charge. I logged into my Dell account and it showed that I was charged $25 for them. I immediately sent another email to the about this showing where they said there would be no charge. Always do this kind of stuff in emails since you have a trail. Over the phone is a waste of your time (often many hours) and there is no documentation.
-
They said the charge would so up there but would only be for them to reference, and that I would not be charged.
-
my brother in law was in fact charged when he requested his for his desktop he did not recieve them and he did get a 25$ charge
-
How did they charge him? Mine says $28 on the order, but they said it was for internal reference order, I hope I do not get charged. They were really nice, I am getting my CDs today, they shipped them next day!
-
Just watch your CC statement very closely. I've learned when Dell tells you one thing, they do something different.
-
I got charged $28 for the discs also. I emailed them to make sure I don't get charged so we'll see what they say about it.
-
Well I got my discs today, woot! Here's the ones I got:
1. Dell Webcam Drivers and Utilities
2. Audigy Soundblaster Drivers
3. Drivers and Utilities
4. Windows Vista Home Basic Reinstallation DVD.
I'm gonna check my bank account every day, make sure I haven't been charged $28.
It also came with a return label, wtf??? -
Yes..I got the same thing. A Dell CSR emailed me telling me to ignore the return shipping label...really nothing to send back
-
Thanks for posting that link.
My order says I'm getting a "DELL RESOURCE DVD,BACK-UP INSP 1520" and a "Vista, PC-Restore, Dim/Insp" but I'm not sure if the "Resource DVD" includes the operating system and the second thing might be that restore partition on the hard drive. -
they just sent me the Vista home PREMIUM DVD...instead of the BASIC for my vostro 1400.....
Anyone else? -
I just ordered my OS DVD today!
-
haha! they didn't want me to send it to them at first, but now they will after I foward the email to my salesperson. lol sweeet.
-

-

-

-
