    Hello,
I tried the settings you so kindly provided, however, my computer freezes immediately after. Is there anything I can do? The noise is driving me crazy and I would really appreciate any advice you have as to fix it.

    Thanks

Under Setting, Startup Options, check Run at Window setup and choose the via method.

I just tried both the popup, popdown method and the solution provided by the OP. Both works for me so I just go with the popup, popdown method for now.

Glad that I actually look up for a solution...the whining is starting to annoy me after a month of using my 1530.

jeez, don't peeps use search any more? This RMClock trick disabling C4 state was around for a while. I remember seeing it before I got my 1330 in July last year.

I was using this fix to lower the whine on my 1330 but have to admit I've now stopped using it. The reason is because using RMClock my laptop was running really hot - to a level where it was quite uncomfortable to use. Also, I found that I was only getting about 3 hours of battery life.

Without RMClock running in this mode I now get around 4 hours or so of battery. The heat is nowhere near as bad as well. I find that I've got used to the noise now, although I generally always listen to music with headphones on or put something on over the speakers if I'm in a quiet room.

I think I'm going to revisit RMClock at some point to try and undervolt the CPU but I don't think I'll be using the whine fix again. I just think the knock on effects of using are not worth it.

Guys, I have found something. Well, that is if it hasn't been discovered :)
Sorry for this, I cant be bothered to read all 6 pages of posts.

    I have recently
-had my mobo replaced with A04 rev.
-noise did not go away, although it was less.
-I wanted to have a dual boot system, winXP and Vista.

I did it and the whine is less noticeable. The frequency of the high-pitch is reduced. I guess windows XP isn't as efficient as Vista at putting the processor to sleep.

Ignore this if you've already know this and forget about flaming me.

    Someone fix Vista
