It looks like Dell just shanked me. The Drivers CD that came with my E1505 does not have the system software that is compatible with my computer. Only 3 models show up and none of them I recognize. Im stuck right now with no drivers and a useless computer. Who sends out a Drivers CD thats not compatible with your comuter anways?! What are my options here? If I find the correct system software on Dell website and burn the file onto a cd will everything work out from there? Im a little dissapointed in Dell...

I wouldnt call this "Shanking" you. This is a simple mistake that can be easily fixed. Give Dell a call and inform them about your situation, I'm pretty sure they'll provide you with a link to the correct Drivers and send you the correct Disk if needed.

I am attempting to load the drivers back, right now Im only missing the Network controller, where do I get this driver.
-
Could it be one of these?

You can just make your own disc. Goto support.dell.com and select the E1505. Then you'll have to download each of the drivers that apply to your system. This is the best way to do it since you'll have the latest version.
You can also just copy the C:\Drivers folder located on your system and save it to a USB jumpdrive or disc. Then place it back on your HDD after formatting. Most of the drivers should be automatically detected, but some you might have to manually update (right click on the device-->update driver-->automatically search "My Computer")
Check out the format guide (link in sig) for more information. -

I installed all the network drivers from my "incorrect" boot disk that correpsonded with the drivers on the Dell site. The computer still doesnt recognize a network connector. This is really frustrating, I will try to download the files directly, hopefully this will work....
Edit: Appears that getting the drivers off the website finally did the trick, thanks everybody! -
On a second note, it appears that all of the icons got a lot smaller. I went into display properties and changed it to 120 DPI like it used to be but they still look smaller than they used to be.

try adjusting your natural resolution. This will make everything bigger. You can also adjust the size of your icons.

Thanks, you're a lifesaver. One more question...In the Device Manager under monitor it has "default monitor". Is it supposed to be this way or can I update it somehow?
-
I had the same thing happen to me with my E1405(drivers disk didn't have my model on it) Since it was my first time reformatting and I was afraid of messing up, I'd taken every precaution I could so I'd also downloaded all of the drivers to a USB flash drive from Dell support. If you're having trouble post your hardware specs and we can tell you all of the drivers you need.

I got all the drivers up already, thanks though. I must say Dell made this Format a pain in the rear end but either way Im glad I did it. A lot less junk on here for sure.
As I was saying before, I have 4 "default monitor" devices in the Monitor section of the Device Manager. Is it supposed to be showing that, if not can you please tell me which driver to DL. Thanks -
I'm not sure entirely what you're asking. You don't need any of the stuff listed under "display" in the Drivers page on Dell support. Those are for if you have an external monitor. Hope that answered your question.
Edit: I also have 3 devices listed as "plug and play monitor" under monitors in my hardware drives list. -
Yes, having 4 default monitors is normal but I don't know why. It shouldn't cause you any problems, so I would just ignore them.

Thanks again guys and gals! Windows appears to be running smoother than before, and that included me doing a lot of cleanup work, registry cleaning, and using TuneXP. Cant wait to optimize this thing and get it running in tip top shape. After Formatting and going to Add/Remove you realize how much crap you had.
Edit: Wow, the computer boots up and runs so much faster than before! Its def much better to format than to clean everything yourself.
Format Woes...please help
