My laptop is my life. To see it all get deleted is a huge shock to me. I managed to pull off the important movies, pictures, documents and mp3s before the format, but my computer is so bare now!

Not to mention there are several problems now:
    Audio lagging
devices without drivers, dont know what device it is though.

My adaptec tv tuner is messed up. I use intervideo cinema as the player for it, its the software thats on the cd. The audio is fine at first, but then begins to lag.

under other devices in the hardware manager, there are 3 "base system device" that do not have drivers installed, I have no clue what they correspond to. And there is "modem device on high definition audio bus"

I thought this was the 56k modem, its not, I think it is from when I installed the bluetooth drivers, not sure though.

What model of notebook do you have? Please report a full model number (eg dv6519tx not dv6500 series) and anything you remember about the manufacturers of your hardware. My 56k modem runs off the UAA bus because of its subcomponent modem audio device. Do your three base system devices share a bus with a SD card reader component? (Use device manager -> View -> Devices by connection to see the physical layout). The other system devices my be other components of the card reader if your model has one

my goodness! I didnt put what model!

I have a m1210, i checked dells page for drivers... I'm also missing the one for the SD card slot.

where can i find the full model number?

the base system devices are listed under "intel 82801 pci bridge - 2448" which is under "pci bus"
modem device on hi-def audio bus is under "microsoft UAA bus driver for hi-def audio"

I found the drivers for the SD slot... it was under chipset, dont know why it was there!

Any suggests on why my adaptec 1410 tv tuner has lagging audio?

Should I format again? and start installing drivers from scratch?

I'm not happy with this reinstall.

    My tv tuner doesnt work
My sound card drivers are messed up
    My UNS speeds are choppy.

I shouldnt have formatted :( I miss my old setup so much now.

Have you installed the driver for the TV tuner? With your sound card drivers, define messed up? Install the UAA bus driver first (which you've apparently already done), uninstall the sound drivers if you've already installed them (this should leave the UAA bus driver unchanged) then reinstall the sound drivers. That should be all you need to do for sound. I'd say the base system devices are definitely other card reader components. Look for a 5-in-1 driver, you may need to install each component manually through device manager.

I too am having this problem. I reformated due to icky spyware (first mistake in a while, hush up) and all seemed fine. OS is good, installed all the drivers needed from the disc, etc. But I kept getting this warning about 'Found New Hardware' for the base system device.

Everything is working alright, haven't noticed any troubles (except little oddities - like the properties window for a drive. If I click on the title bar and drag it somewhere, the pink of the graph becomes transparent) But missing a device is worrying me.
