Right now I have MCE installed on my laptop as this is what it came with, however, I have XP that I went to put on instead...when boot up from the pro cd, it gets to the point where it says "starting windows" and then an error comes up and I have to restart. However, when I put in the XP cd, it goes just fine. Am I not supposed to be able to format from the pro cd or what?

MCE is XP Pro without the ability to join a domain.

I killed 2 MCE specific services in the Service manager. Otherwise the MC features stay out of the way and you could not tell the difference.

i'm a bit confused. Can you tell us more about your problem? Are you trying to reformat so you will have XP Pro on your laptop?

if you're computer is set up properly, when you boot with a bootable disc in the drive, it should boot to that disc, not windows. is that what you're asking?
