    Free Next Day Shipping or not? DHL Ground it is...

    Just a heads up about the upgrade option for free next day shipping. I had my shipping upgraded to next day shipping on 8/10/07 by a chat CSR. My dell order status page shows "Shipping Method: Next Business Day". The email confirmation from dell (the check box option for notifcation when order ships) says, "Shipping Method: Next Business Day Delivery".

    Today my order shipped (8/14/07) and it did not ship out next day service. It is currently shipping as DHL ground, which is the same as when I ordered the laptop. Just awesome.

    I'm not too bothered about it, since it will only take 2 biz days via ground, but I was kinda irked about why it didn't go through as next day service shipping since the website/email confirmed it was upgraded. So I decided to chat with a CSR. Their answer is as follows:

    "Agent (Nelson Joseph): "I see that the order was placed on 08-07-07 and the shipping method on the order was ground."
    Agent (Nelson Joseph): "The shipping method can be only changed while placing the order online."
    Agent (Nelson Joseph): "After placing the order we will not be able to change the shipping method."
    Agent (Nelson Joseph): "Even if we change the shipping method the order will be shipped via ground."
    David ****: "Why was I told it would be upgraded to next day shipping?"
    Agent (Nelson Joseph): "You are not charged for this upgrade."
    Agent (Nelson Joseph): "I am sorry for the wrong information given to you by the previous agent."
    David ****: "So, nothing can be done at all?"
    Agent (Nelson Joseph): "Yes David."
    Agent (Nelson Joseph): "Is there anything else that I can assist you with?""

    I really don't have anything to complain about since I didn't experience any *real* delays. I figured the college kids depending on the upgraded shipping for school may find it useful to know that it may not get shipped next day if it was upgraded by CSR via chat (can't confirm if phone CSR's have same problem.)

    Maybe I just slipped through the cracks and it's happen only to a handful of customers? Can anyone else confirm the same issue?

    My tracking thing said 'Ground' even though i was upgraded to next day, though I learned that it was indeed next day, it just didn't say on the tracking site. From my experience, you have nothing to worry about.

    I was on the phone with a CSR on 8/7/07 about my m1330 order (8/20/07 as 3rd EDD, placed 6/26/07), she said she'd give me the free next day delivery and put me on hold. Shortly afterward she came back on the line and said that she was not able to do it. Ah well, my system also shipped 8/14/07 and it is indeed coming via DHL Ground. I hope what remix says is right because I'm moving to my new apartment some 500ish miles away come Saturday.

    Just had a laptop ship out Saturday with DHL ground (or whatever the normal 3-5 busniess days is) and received it on MONDAY!! I don't think there is much to worry about.

    R2K..I had the same thing...my Dell Order status said "Next Business Day" but the DHL website said Ground. According to the DHL website, "Ground" is 1-6 business days. Mine shipped yesterday and I got a phone call from DHL that it would be delivered between 11-12:30 this morning and would require signature. So...I think Dell is telling everyone "next business day" to appease them, while counting on the fast service of DHL to "hopefully" get it in 1 day when in actuality it could take them up to 6. Who knows...I just know I'm getting mine today (ordered on 7/16 with a first ESD of 7/27) and I'm beginning to wonder if those $20 and $50 coupons I was offered will actually come.

    on dell's site it says next business day delivery for me. however, the EDD is not listed as the next day; there is a 3-5 day range. on the dhl site though it says next day by 3:00 pm delivery, so, there you have it.

    I had the EXACT same issue yesterday. I talked to CSR on the phone, and was told the exact same thing ("you were not charged for shipping"). He kept telling me I had not been charged for shipping, but all of a sudden his tone changed and he offered me a $50 coupon. Gave me the case number, and said he'd call back in 4 days to verify that I got the coupon.

    Same issue for me. DHL got my laptop on 8/14 (Yesterday) and their tracking site lists it as "Next Day" and "DHL Ground Express"

    However, DHL says they only deliver "Next Day" packages every -other- day in my area, so it will actually take two days.

    I could pick it up at the hub tonight if I wanted, however - 30 miles each way. Then it would eally be "Next Day" I suppose. But I'll wait another 18 hours and save the $12 in gas.

    I think I have the same issue too. I was upgraded, but online it now says GROUND instead of Next Day. It used to say next day too, but it suddenly changed yesterday. I'm hoping it will ship out today, so maybe i'll get it by friday. Does DHL deliver on Saturdays?

    Yea you will have your laptop the next day im sure. Mine shipped out yesterday and im nowing typing on it. Its very nice! It arrived here at 10.

    My order status always said "3-5 business day", but every rep I called would say "Oh, that's alright. It's next day in my system, which is what matters. Don't worry, I PROMISE it will be next day. You silly little customer...."

    OK i hope it is because if it doesn't ship out this week then i'll have to wait over the weekend. It's not like its a big deal though considering I've been waiting for a month, but still it'd be nice to have for the weekend...
