I just got my new Vostro 1500 a few weeks ago and ever since then my computer freezes randomly from like 1-7 times a day each day I use it. Duration of freeze is also random lasting from 5 seconds to 1 minute. I barely installed programs on my computer. For each freeze period, the application I currently use freezes up, but the other applications I have opened up don't freeze for a few seconds then they freeze too. Then it looks as if my whole operating system freezes as well. My mouse can still move around, but I can't really do anything other than just sit and wait for the lockup to end. I can still toggle my numlock light on my keyboard though. Lastly, my magnetic disk light (the light symbol that looks like a cylindrical can) is solid on whenever freezing occurs. After a freezing period, everything returns to normal. Can you please help me solve this problem?

There's another thread around with a registry fix for this. I think the title is something like "vista pausing" or "vista pause" or something like that.

At any rate, I had the same problem, did the registry fix, and haven't had the problem since.
