    Hi,
I bought my first notebook PC last week from Dell.
It is an Inspirion 1505. I allready have a fully licensed version of XP PRO so I wiped off the Media Center Partition and installed that. So then it was time to reinstall the drivers.

This was not as easy as I thought it would be. It took me about 10 hours to find all the right drivers for the notebook. The resource CD didn't have all of them or the right ones, etc, etc. Now, I've pretty much got it going. But I am a little confuzzled.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    The Questions:
I am wondering if I installed all the drivers.
I installed the follwing dirvers in the specified order:
    Systems Software.
    Chipset.
    Video.
    Wireless NIC.
    Ethernet NIC.
    Audio Drivers.

Do I need to install drivers for my LCD monitor/panel thing as well? I noticed that video quality is worse quality than on my CTR but it isn't not horrible.

I noticed there are still "Unknown devices" in ym device manager. These three devices are labeld as "Base Hardware" (or something like that). So some stuff is still missing, maybe?

I really appreciate any help you can give a notebook noobie in need.

You may need to install the chipset drivers. Also, you may need to install the graphics card drivers. You can find these drivers on the Dell website, and perhaps on the drivers CD that accompanied the notebook. Drivers for the other devices should also be present on the website, for example, the Ethernet NIC.

I installed all those. Every driver I installed is listed in my post. Anything else other than those main drivers?

I have installed drivers for every category, EXCEPT Display.
This category has like 20 options for it.
I assume they stand for the model of my LCD. But I have no clue how to find that info. I have looked on the online diagnostic as well as my computer invoice listing all the parts.

Thanks for your help thus far.

I will try adjusting dpi and resolutions later to try and enhance video quality.
