just got my shiny new 1530 yesterday, decided to re-install the OS to make sure its running as fast as it can, but now some of the silly, yet pretty aspects of vista that i saw last night are gone, u know... the half translucent window headings, that goofy 3d window switching thing... do i have to put any of that shyte back on here to get that back?

hmm it seems like Aero theme is not enabled bro , just goto Desktop Personalization control panel and and select "Color and Appearance" and then click down to open the classic propertied and there select Aero theme bro
-
did you install the drivers? sounds like you dont have a good video driver thus windows is disabling aero
-
well, i did the windows update, it had tons of drivers in the installed updates list, along with the 8600m gt driver, do i need any more that that?
-
o hay and i just checked the themes, aero isnt even in there... im definately missing something
-
Is there any chance that the OS you re-installed with was the Vista Basic edition?
-
it says home premium... all i installed so far is the vista disk and the windows update stuff, what other core drivers/ software is there?
-
Also...
When I clean installed Vista, after I installed my graphics driver, I had to run the Windows Experience Index benchmarking program again. To get to it, open Control Panel-Click System and Maintenance-then click "Check your computer's Windows Experience Index base score." On the screen that appears click "Update My Score" and go through the UAC prompt if you see it. -
alright, well i ran the index thing and it didnt really change anything, plus it gave me a score of 4.8... if thats out of 10 that cant be right
-
scratch that, its running aero again, thanks for all the help fellas
-
Good to know. Enjoy your notebook.
