just got my shiny new 1530 yesterday, decided to re-install the OS to make sure its running as fast as it can, but now some of the silly, yet pretty aspects of vista that i saw last night are gone, u know... the half translucent window headings, that goofy 3d window switching thing... do i have to put any of that shyte back on here to get that back?

Is there any chance that the OS you re-installed with was the Vista Basic edition?

Did you use the Dell Resource CD to install the necessary drivers-You should do that if you haven't yet-It should scan your system and show what's missing.

    Also...

When I clean installed Vista, after I installed my graphics driver, I had to run the Windows Experience Index benchmarking program again. To get to it, open Control Panel-Click System and Maintenance-then click "Check your computer's Windows Experience Index base score." On the screen that appears click "Update My Score" and go through the UAC prompt if you see it.
