Anyone ever use it? I want to purchase a new battery for my D630 but Dell's quote of $180 is rather absurd; I also don't know how long they've been sitting in the factory.

This is the battery I was looking at:
http://www.freshbattery.com/Detail.bok?no=288. I know it says for D620 but isn't the D630 using the same physical layout as the predecessor? Would it fit into my precious portable?

That's too bad they don't offer any recent model batteries or else I'd probably buy one for my Studio 15. The site claims to have a 'Born on' date so they must not be too old.

If you look at the 6 cell you will see they say for the D620 and D630 so you should be good.

That's what I was thinking but if that were the case, why didn't they also guarantee the 9 cell to work with the D630?

Got a friend that offered me 2 6-cell batteries for $45 shipped. If I only use one until it wears out, would the other one suffer the same effect? Are Li-ion batteries affect by the number of charges or time?

You should keep the spare at 40% charge in a cool place. It will still age, but not as much as if kept at a higher temperature. You should probably swap them out every so often.

I was thinking of alternating the use. I would use a different battery every day. Would that also prevent the batteries from dying that much faster?

Alternating their use is a good idea.

I don't think you'd have to do it that often. I would suggest something like once a month drain a battery to about 40% and store it away someplace cool and then use the other one for a month.
