I got an email from Dell right after I placed my order this morning at 12:18am saying they got my order and it is acknowledged, and that they will be sending me an email shortly to confirm and give me an order number.

Well, its now 6pm and I have still yet to receive an order number in an email, and I tried checking on My Dell Account page and nothing shows up there yet either.

How long did it take for you guys to get your order numbers from Dell?

Some times it takes days to show up. This is normal with Dell

It might be because its the weekend, but I doubt it. Make sure you have an order number, customer number or something on the invoice that you can call and reference to. I went through this same problem, I ordered from a Dell kiosk thru a Dell rep who even set up my Preferred Account for financing. Turns out my order didnt ever exist, but I got a print out of it and my account was charged.

Here's the threads on my experiences so far:

If you have a number like order or customer number, do not hesitate to call Dell and talk to someone about the status of your order. Waiting will only add to the delay.

I called them and it said that order status may not be available if I placed it within the last 24 hours, guess I'll just wait until Monday to check into it.
I ordered it with a WXGA screen and the Jet Black color, so do you guys think it'll get here relatively quickly?
Selling my current laptop tomorrow and hate to be without one for so long.

BTW: I ordered on a friday night after midnight and was acknowledged immediately. About 5 minutes later I got the confirmation email. Technically my order went in on monday, but I got all the protocol emails as expected.

Maybe the problem is I ordered through www.dell.com/quote and used a quoted system from a Dell rep and fulfilled it through that site instead of the normal custom build website, that could be why it is taking longer.

I never got an order acknowledgment, either. The order showed up under my account by the next morning, and I have been monitoring it from there.

yeah always ask a rep to help you no matter by phone or online they make the order confirmation process faster. I ordered with a rep and I got my email in 1 min after ordering.

I did not use a rep, just ordered online. I bet that is the difference? somebody probably has to click submit, to send the email. ;)

I ended up calling them to get the email resent five days after I ordered. Apparently they typed in the wrong email address. :p

Sometimes it takes a few days to get an order confirmation. It varies from situation to situation ...

When I ordered my 1520 they NEVER emailed me. I had to go into online customer service chat to finally get my info (I did it 2 days after my purchase). They said it was an error on their part.
