Does anyone have a pretty good idea of what kind of savings the back to school sale will have, specifically regarding the new 1520 notebook?
Right now, factoring in the student discount/epp/delluniversity, I can get the configuration I want for about 1400 (I believe about $850 total in savings)
My school starts on Aug 22nd, and I would at least like to have the notebook a little bit before then. Is it worth waiting til August for any new deals, or should I just go for it now (and possibly wait for the possible July 4th sale)?
Thanks!
-
Just a side question; how do you apply both student and epp discounts together?
-
Student = epp = university...
-
EPP discount is very different from the student/university discount. My bro is going to get $900+ off his 1520. -
Just through EPP? So it's worth asking around to see if I can get a code, then?
-
-
Sorry for the confusion; when I stated EPP/student I just meant that everything I could apply for is included, not that I had EPP specifically. I don't know how to combine those two, so you'd have to ask someone else.
As far as the topic goes, does anyone have any suggestions? -
You cannot stack student/university with the EPP. I've called and asked multiple agents at multiple times, as I am eligible for the same discount at both my school and at my work. Unfortunately, you can only choose one or the other, not both.
-
Well the $200 Dell University coupon is good through July 26, so if that's what you're using I don't see the harm in waiting until then to see if they do anything else.
-
hm don't they have sales on last thursday of every month? you can like wait until tomorrow
-
-
I would think EPP, but Im not really sure what that is...Is it for businesses or something? I might be getting a few hundred off the e1520 from school. How can I make sure that my school is supported?
EDIT: Its a high school -
-
For me at least, the EPP and student discounts are identical. And they're pretty lame, at best. I don't tend to purchase the protection plans, so I only get 4% off any configuration I put together, for both the EPP and student discount. You can get up to 12% off for either one, but your configuration has to have a base price of more than $1,600 and you have to purchase a 3-year protection plan.
-
EPP is currently getting at least like $70 less here instead of University. The $200 University Coupon WORKS on EPP, so no issues

Getting back to the Opening Post question, anyone know anything about July 4 deals and how good they are?
-
Actually, if all you get for University is $200 off, then EPP blows it away.
Without using the $200 discount coupon I am getting $750 off my 1520. -
illmatic...read what I just said, it's EPP + $200 off...
-
Yeah, sounds like it's an additional code you input after the 12% and whatever else you're getting. Not a bad deal, but then again we don't know what's coming tomorrow, or the 4th, or whenever.
-
Once you've configured your system and view it in your cart, you're able to apply your $200 student coupon code STACKED with your current EPP discount...I've done it multiple times the past two days. I'm sort of confused why this is so confusing to everybody, why don't you just try it for yourselves and see?
-
There's a coupon up for the new Inspirons, $350 off of notebooks over $1,399. Score.
Doesn't work with EPP discount, though, so you might be better off going with that and the $200 coupon. -
already tried to combine them into a $550 supercoupon. No dice. For me, its better to use the student coupon and my EPP ($70) plus another 4% off because the $350 coupon makes you buy the more expensive options.
-
omg this isn't working for education!
-
yeah, and it doesn't stack with the savings already there like the $200 one does. lame.
-
It might start working in the morning, technically it's not supposed to start for another 5+ hours.
-
BTW
does anyone have any idea whether the back to school discounts will be more/less than this coupon? My current config runs about $1250 after all my savings, with a similar config on the sager 2090 at $1400+. This looks mighty tempting right now.... -
I'd just be leary about waiting for something that may never come. I've got a pretty tricked-out 1420 right now for around $1,250 with the EPP and $200 coupon, so, I don't know.
Edit: And I wouldn't hold your breath on the coupon working in the morning, since it works just fine on the normal Dell site. I guess it's possible, but I doubt it. -
Forgive me, as I am a prospective Dell customer only. Where do you find the discounts such as these $300 and $200 ones.
-
Yes, let's all complain about not being able to stack every coupon we can find so we can get a free system...duh, obviously you can't stack you tards! You can expect a discount, better price, and other things...but you can only go so far...
-
I am not sure about the $350 one, but I hope it will be able to be stacked on top of the $200. That would be awesome.
@ DoubleBlack: Is it wrong to want to pay as little as possible? -
The $200 discount is for college students with a .edu e-mail address; go to delluniversity.com and register.
The $350 coupon is at the top of this page, towards the right. Click on the tab that says "Dell Coupons," and it'll take you to them. -

-
What's the $70 off? I just see the EPP percentage thing when I do mine.
And I know a $550 coupon would be excessive, but just using the $350? I thought it might've been realistic, and with the way Dell's site has been so glitchy I think anything is worth trying, right now. -
-
Ah, ok. I'm in the 1420 and picking the one to the far right, so it's a tad bigger than $70, heh... I didn't know if he was "counting" that or not, since it's kind of a Dell gimick. But now I know.
The $200 coupon still gives a great price, and that's without calling, even... -
-
-
does anybody know where you have to put in the 200 dollar off code? cause i configured a 1520 through the site and then got to checkout but i didnt see a spot to enter the code..
-

Hello all. I am also considering buying the Dell 1520. I have been doing quite a bit of research and reading the forums, but this is still all kinda new and confusing to me. This is what I have so far:
DELL INSPIRON 1520: $ 2234 (this is the FAR RIGHT 1520, including all upgrades and DellCare Plus protection plan, BEFORE the discounts)
Flamingo Pink
Intel® Core 2 Duo T7300 (2.0GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)
Genuine Windows ® Vista Home Premium Edition
Glossy, widescreen 15.4 inch display (1280x800)
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® Go 8600M GT
2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz
160G 7200RPM SATA HDD
3 year Complete Accidental Damage protection, Lo-Jack, In-home service, 24/7 Technical support, Anti-virus/Spyware Suite, yadda yadda
$2234
- $292 Select Inspiron discount
- $121 7% Discount from getting PC care bundle (thats the 3yr plan)
- $200 Student discount
- $194 12% discount off systems priced $1600 and up with 3/4yr protection plan)
FINAL PRICE: $1425
I think it's a killer deal, but if it can go lower, that won't hurt either
Am I good here or is there something I can change to make it even better? -
Wow. I might have to get some more stuff that I have absolutely no need for!
If you can find something to make it even better...wow. I'm pretty sure this is a killer deal, and I'm finally glad I didn't hit purchase a few weeks ago on the e1705, even if the ship date is a little Lenovo-esque right now. -
Yea, this deal is looking better and better. I suggest you all just get the Inspiron with the biggest savings, the DellCare Plus (for the 7%), and pick upgrades you like until the price is over $1600 (you won't be able to see total calculated end price until you add to cart) to get the 12% discount. It may not be cheaper than without it, but it will allow you to get some additional upgrades for the same price. Can't complain about that!!
-
CANADA coupons??
Are there any? -
Looks like they've raised the price a lot on the 1420 through EPP
They don't give you the $397 off anymore like they do in the normal site. Even after the $200 off coupon from Dell University, it's basically the same price through EPP or through the normal site.
-
Is this 200 university coupon only for inspirons? Im interested in a lattitude or xps.
-
Its actually cheaper through normal site with the 350$ off.
-
I didnt recieve a coupon I got the email to register and I did but no coupon. Where do I find it?
