Future Dell Discounts (4th of July, Back2School, etc)

I built a 1520 Inspiron that totaled $2181 and i got the 7% PC care bundle discount and the $350 coupon but i cant get the $200 Dell University one nor the 12%. i went to checkout and to the coupon input screen and still no 12% discount.

 

Where are the 7% PC Care and the 12% discounts? I'm still waiting for the email with regards to the $200 Dell University coupon (it wasn't automatic, as I don't have a .edu address yet, so I had to send them my acceptance letter for them to review), but with the $350 off coupon those might be nice...

 

You can only get the best discount if you choose DellCare Premium, which I always choose because I want the best warranty there is.

My config came out to only around $1400 with the 10% + 12% + $200 + $292 discounts.

 

One word: How?

Would this be a good time to buy a Dell? I'm so close to buying it... but I want to make absolutely sure I'm getting the best deal and the best configs. Is the 256MB video card/2gig memory even needed for what I'm going to use this computer for (mainly light gaming and web)?

Srry for double post, but I think you are looking at the preconfigured laptops for your school. You cant use the $200 coupon on those, but you do get better deals to begin with and a cheap printer and a longer warranty.

 

Where do you guys get the 12% off? I've configured it over 1600 but I can't get that 12%; I also can't get the $200 off to stack with the 7% and $292; how are you guys doing this?

 

I haven't yet been able to combine the 10% off of DellCare Premium with the 12% EPP (the offer to double my EPP only comes when I choose the standard Dell warranty)

Has anyone else been able to do this?

Also, were there any good July 4 deals last year? I'm hoping for some nice savings this weekend =X

 

i think what pissed me off about palladin's price was that there is no student discount, you think with that kind of discount, dell would raise an alarm somewhere

 

Ok, to get the 12%, you have to select the 3 or 4 year service plan. When they give you the 3 differently configured 1520s, take the one on the right to get the $292 off. I configured mine just over $1600 to get the 12%. Final price: $2214-$292-$200-$120.54 (7% for the 3 year) = $1601.46-$192.18 (12%) =
$1409.28. Seems like a good deal since I added lots of RAM and got the more expensive processors, GPU, screens, battery, etc.

 

I'm guessing there is a possiblity that they will stop Palladin's order before it ships if a higher up catches wind of that.

Okay, what I did was use the coupon I got in my EDU mailbox, but I found that logging in from the Dell University site (enter your e-mail as the login) will automatically add the $200 discount at checkout sometimes. It's a little glitchy I think. It doesn't work all the time?

Also, pick the FURTHEST RIGHT deal... it has the biggest savings. I'd recommend the DellCare Plus package... you don't need the Premium unless you think the 10% discount will benefit you somehow... but that package is enough for the extra 12% discount... but you gotta make sure your subtotal is over $1600 (I think this includes some of the discounts). Or else you get the 8% discount instead of the 12%.

In the end, you should get a

-$300-400ish select Inspiron discount (from selecting furthest right deal)
- 7-10% discount from either DellCare Plus or Premium package
- 12% discount from choosing the Plus or Premium care package AND over $1600 order
- $200 student discount

LOL Palladin is going to be pissed! Anyway, while we are on the topic of great deals, I am getting the Inspirion 1520 configured with the T7300, 8600GT, 2gb of ram, high res screen (the lower end on thats x900), all for about 1470 with all discounts and 200 coupon. My only question is with this deal there appears to be no way to get the new intel Draft-N wireless card only the intel A/G card.... I chatted with dell for a while but they weren't very much help and didn't really resolve anything.... anyone have any ideas?

 

Okay, I've been going back and forth between the 1420 and 1520 configs to see which was the better deal. I honestly don't have a huge preference in screen size.

Basically, the 1420 had a larger discount and came with more stuff that I wanted that was already included in price, whereas the 1520 charged extra for the 1gig of memory. However, somehow when I went back to the website later, the maxed out 1520 (including 256MB card and 2gig memory) came out to only be a little more than a maxed out 1420 (with 128MB video card), which finalized my decision in which one to get.

Agreed, Dell's site is like a labyrinth of savings and overpriced junk. I just googled "dell university" and clicked on the second site. For me at least, its cheaper to just use the $350 coupon rather than bother with all the School stuff. The University discount is only good if you want a long (3+ years) service plan or a beefed up HD. Plus, the Dell Home's 1520 comes with earbuds.

Dell is so Frustrating!!!! I tried getting the same deal that Pwnstar and a few others have got on their 1520 but it wont let me stack more than 3 coupons online and neither will they do it overe the phone. Please, please tell me your secret?

So I finally got it to work and stack - everything pretty much maxed out works out to $1575 shipped. Only problem - the most generous discount option (Extreme Right) does not let you select Wireless N!!! Anyone figure out a way around this?
