I was excited to get my laptop today, so I called DHL and asked them to hold it at the depot so i could pick it up at 10:00 AM and not have to wait ALL day to get it. They said that they couldn't do that because they had to attempt to deliver it once before I could pick it up.

I waited all day. No laptop. They said it would arrive by 5 at the latest. 5 comes and goes.
I called at 5:15, and I was assured that it would arrive
6:30, I am getting more angry. I call and ask what's up. The woman gives some bs excuse about "driver error or something." She then says that they will try to deliver it again tomorrow.
I am getting really pissed by then, because I had to clear my whole schedule today to wait for the fscking laptop. I tell her that I want to pick it up tomorrow and she says I can. So now I have to rearrange my whole schedule for tomorrow, when I was planning on leaving on a trip at 8:00 AM to pick up the laptop from stupid dhl.

I still blame dell at the heart of this, for shipping my package via dhl ground shipping, and not the next day shipping that I had requested.

What can i get from dell for all of this? And who do I call (customer care, sales?)

While the situation does suck, you DID technically get next business shipping (shipped on Friday, delivery today), what more could Dell have done if DHL screwed up??

what you get depends on what it takes to make you a satisfied customer
edit: plus, seeing as how this delay wasn't dell's fault...good luck from my side.

I HATE DHL TOO! I was supposed to get my laptop today so I waited till 12PM. Still no laptop so I called DHL and they said it'll be at my house at no later than 3 PM. 3PM passes, 4 PM, then 5PM. I called again, and the guy said that there were problems at the DHL center and it will be delivered tomorrow instead !$#@$#@$#@$#@

I got my laptop yesterday. I called DHL in the morning to find out if they could give me an approximate delivery time (morning or afternoon) so I could be home from work. They said I could specify a time, so I said anytime after noon, so I went home a little before 12:00, but I left a note on my door saying they could leave it with one of my neighbors in case they missed me. When I got home, the note I left was still there, so I waited. Around 2:00, I checked the tracking info online, and it said they attempted delivery at 11:30, and no one was home. I was pretty pissed because they didn't leave it with the neighbor nor did they leave a note that they were there. I called the 800 number a couple of times and got a couple of different stories, so I finally found the local number and called them. They contacted the driver and arranged for him to come back, so he did around 4:30.

Yah I'm beginning to think DHL lies about attempting a delivery, last week they said they attempted a delivery of my dad's 1501 and no one was here, but there was about 7 of us sitting around all day, so I don't see how that's possible. And yah, they left no note at all. Mine was delivered by UPS yesterday so I didn't have to deal with them!

It would have been on the same truck at the same time if it were on DHL ground or DHL overnight delivery methods. Do you want them to put your precious package on a plane and fly around in a big circle for you so you feel better about it? A lot of you fail to comprehend that what the box says is only important for how Dell gets billed for it, not when it gets delivered. Fact is you request overnight delivery and you live close enough to get it via a camel in one business day, it goes on the camel.

I hope Dell gives you nothing. Shipping delays happens, its not Dell's fault, get over it.

    OMG REP FOR YOU!!
That is the point SO MAY do not understand. I was promised overnight shipping as well and got UPS Ground (3-5 days), but Dell knew it was coming 75 miles (from Austin to San Antonio TX) and it did indeed come overnight, so do I have any reason to complain?? Not at all.

It's NOT Dell's fault that DHL screwed up.

There are many complaints about DHL's sub-standard shipping on the forums. Not suprising as they have a history of this even before their buyout ( at least in a certain regions of the US).

Still, one would think that DHL would treat one of their biggest clients much better...

I would leave Dell alone in this shipping incident. Next time (with any shipment really) just use UPS, Fed-Ex, or even USPS.

Whoever Dell has shipping products gets a lot of complaints. Its not special to DHL. DHL treats a Dell system just like any other package. With shipper this is how it works "Shipper XYZ messed up my package, I am going to use ABC next time!" Then 9 months later ABC loses a package and its back to XYZ.

And Dell DID try shipping systems via USPS in somewhere between 1999 and 2001. It was a >nightmare< as the USPS was completely incapable of handling the PC boxes, especially since most of them had CRTs with them.

I got a full tour of the local UPS hub last year, and I can assure you its nothing special. Also if you watch the trucks coming back into the warehouse, they have a ton of undelivered packages on each truck, that screw up the next days shipments...
