Look on yahoo or google "how to apply thermal grease" to get a tutorial on this with pictures.

You could screw this up pretty bad if you only go by peoples text on this forum.

Yes only to CPU and GPU. You have to remove the heatsink and apply a VERY THIN layer of compound between the GPU or CPU and the Heatsink.

But you got to do other stuff like clean off the GPU and CPU from older compound before you do this and other stuff.

Are you only doing this to get an extra 100 points or whatever in 3dmark2005?

I would, before doing this, discuss with Dell how taking off the case affects your warranty.

it will void his warranty, I guarantee that.

However, Dell will never void his warranty unless he TELLS them what he did because they will never be able to find out.

when the posts stop, we'll all know what happened. it's like that other dude that insisted he could upgrade to x300 from dedicated graphics when everybody kept telling him he couldn't. why ask for help when you won't listen to the replies?

I'm curious... Have you actually tried googling for it or anything o/c related yet? No offense, but if you have never, ever, attempted to o/c even a crappy desktop, I really don't think your brand spanking new 9300 is a good place to start learning... heh

But if you are hell-bent on potentially killing your notebook -- here's a very long, branched, interesting read thread that will get you started...

    http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=889870

and NO, there are NO "specific" guides to o/c a 9300, the saying goes -- if you have to ask -- you should NOT really be trying. Don't get me wrong -- it is relatively easy to o/c a PC, but if you have never ever put on a layer of thermal grease, the confines of a notebook is hardly the place to start to learn to tinker...

    good luck! ~_~

Just wanted the OP to be aware of all the ramifacations of taking apart their new notebook since they seemed inexperienced. Doesn't sound like it matters. If they screw things up, Dell is not going to help them.
