Ok. I downloaded nTune and I am finally able to see my GPU temperature.

As I type, it idles around 49-50C.

    My graphics card is a:

    256mb nVidia GeForce 8600M GT

    I'm on a dell Inspiron 1520.

Also, what is acceptable under load? Such as gaming.

Shutoff is at 120+, keep it under 90.

Around 90 is acceptable under gaming conditions.
If it exceeds 90, you need to switch the laptop off an dplace it in the freezer.
