I ordered something form the Dell outlet last week thinking ahh outlet stuff well it must already be built and ready to go out the door. Dell sit on the order untill friday afternoon when Walsh Westerns site claims it departed the manufacturing facility at 5pm friday. since then nothing, they dant seem to have my address and on contacting Dell to see what the hell is going on Dell dont seem to know. Dont seem to give much of a crap either. the estimated delivery date is tomorrow or before so i get ot take the day off potentially for nothing. so am i supposed to take the rest of the week of so i can sit and wait for something that may or may not be coming.

to say im getting annoyed with it and Dells, yeah whatever attitude is a colossal understatement.

"the purchase experience of our customers is our utmost priority" =) seriously ? yeah they have pretty bad delivery scheme and it seems that Dell themselves dont know whats going on in the company.
they do nice laptops but I think its better to buy Dell laptops in retail stores like "Currys" or something.

If you see a specific section of a popular tech forum dedicated to Dell's poor customer service then that should give you an idea of what they're all about.

well for me its the first time ive used Dell and not been ordering something thats been customised. usually there are no issue, slow but i expect it to take a while when its custom made.

whats killed me is the awfulness of Walsh Western and Dell seeming to not give a crap about it. im truly appalled by it.

I ordered a Dell Outlet laptop on 26th November and it shipped on 29th November. For several days the ETA for delivery has shown as today - 5th December. It is now 18:26 on the 5th and no sign of anything. Here's the tracking history so far....

04/12/13 09:59 WWI - LUTTERWORTH ORDER DISPATCHED FROM HUB.
04/12/13 09:59 WWI - LUTTERWORTH FIRST BOX SCANNED OUT OF HUB.
04/12/13 09:57 WWI - LUTTERWORTH ORDER COMPLETE IN HUB.
04/12/13 09:57 WWI - LUTTERWORTH FIRST BOX SCANNED INTO HUB.
    04/12/13 09:30 PLAN COMMITTED NOTE.
    29/11/13 22:00 EMF DEPARTED MANU.FACILITY

So yesterday it arrived at, and left, the central hub, which is only 103 road miles from me, and 32 hours later it hasn't even arrived anywhere, much less been loaded onto a van for delivery today. Does anyone know the cutoff time for deliveries, because the ETA on the tracking site is still showing delivery today and I'm finding that hard to believe.

    EDIT :

Well the laptop never showed yesterday, but it was delivered today. Unfortunately it wasn't delivered to me or any nearby neighbours. There is a "signature" of sorts by someone I've never heard of so I guess someone is pretty chuffed to have received a free laptop.

I've waited in again all day for the delivery, with a car parked in the driveway, the house number clearly visible from the street and the doorbell in perfect working order. Nobody rang the bell. The property is a private house on a road on a bus route rather than some private alleyway off the beaten track so there can be no excuse for picking the wrong address. Consequently I can only conclude foul play as the level of incompetence required in order to misdeliver is surely incalculable.

So now I have no laptop at all and am playing a chasing game with Dell to find out where it went. Of course, now it is Friday night so everything grinds to a halt for two days and I have no idea when or if I will ever see the machine. Dell has asked for two business days - i.e. Monday and Tuesday next week - to try to find the machine.

In the event that the machine can not be recovered Dell has already offered the choice of replacement or refund, but the XPS 14, for that is what it was, seems increasingly rare on the Outlet so there may not be the prospect of an acceptable replacement (equivalent or superior spec) becoming available. Really not good. :-(
