Hey everyone, I received my 6000 today.

I'm going to write a review soon. In addition, I will be happy to download any demos for games that you might be wondering about performance-wise.

I know how it is wondering if a game works on a system you're thinking of getting.

I will do my best to provide a screenshot as well.

My specs are as follows (if you need more info just ask):

    1.86 GhZ Pentium M
    1GB RAM
    128MB Mobility X300
    80GB 5400rpm hard drive
    WXGA screen

The maximum resolution is 1280 by 800.

It could be a little brighter at its default setting, to be honest. This may be a problem if you want to work through the battery when you want a brighter screen.

You can always adjust the screen brightness to be dimmer. :)

you want to make sure to get ATI Tools and overclock that Radeon. I use 390/280 for gaming. Search the board for more info on overclocking the X300 :)

What types of games do you want to play? The X300 will not be very fast at the latest games.

If you're looking at playing high-end games, you may want to consider adding more RAM to your system as well.

Does anybody know if there is a desktop equivalent for the X300? i looked on the ATI website for their desktop cards, lowest i could find was a X800.

i'm still using a radeon 7000 series in my desktop that i got around 3 years ago. and it works fine...of course i dont do intensive gaming.

but how does the X300 measure up? anybody know?

No, there is a desktop version of the X300. Are you trying to compare the speeds of today's cards with the previous generation's?

sort of compare the speed. i havent kept up with any hardware details for a long time. i mean if the X300 is way better than my Radeon 7000 then there is no reason i can't live with a simple X300 for the next 2-3 years.

i'm surviving just fine on the 7000, just goes to show u how many intense games i play!

Yes there is.... Actually its X300 too. The radeon 7000.... well.... i got one back in 2001 - and it was kind of old lol. You will see a HUGE performance boost.

1GB is sufficient for gamming. The X300 won't be able to run high end games. For some games, ram makes a big difference. Like If your playing BF2 and you have 1GB, upgrading to 2GB's increases the framerates by a lot. So it depends on what games your going to be playing. Most games 1GB-2GBs won't make any difference.

So is it possible to get anything higher than a x300 in an i6000? Or is that only possible with the 9300, because I'd really like to get the 6800 with the 15 inch screen.

If you want a Dell 15.4" notebook with a 6800 gpu, you have to go to the Precision M70. It's Nvidia Go1400 is a 6800 optimized for CAD. i.e. stability and accuracy are optimized at the expense of sheer speed - but it is still around 90% max speed of the gaming 6800. Most would be very happy with the result. For me it is almost the perfect notebook. Does everything thrown at it without fuss.

"how does the X300 measure up? anybody know?"
The mobile X300 is roughly equivalent to the old ATI radeon mobile 9600.
