I am planning to order a 9100. I've noted a couple of posts complaining about black bars down the sides of the screen when playing games. Will most ganes actually fill a widescreen format or will they always display in the "conventional" aspect ratio?

I have a dell 8600, which also uses a widescreen. I have yet to come across a game that makes black bars, they all stretch to fit or have widescreen resolution an option.

Most newer games will not have any problems with widescreen. Some games also offer patches if there are issues.

Some of the talk of the black bar is due to people chaging the screen resolution from 1920x1200 to 1600x1050. This is a know issue for WUXGA ATI cards like the 9600, 9700. If you don't step down the resolution, you should be fine I think.

I updated my Omega drivers and ran into this problem. The default drivers stretched to fit, but I found the solution for the drivers that don't. Just ask me and I'll post it (it will take a while to write, but the end result works beautifully.)

when you do get around to posting it you may want to do so in the gaming forum, as this will likely apply to a lot of people with widescreens and games not just dell
