GeForce 7800 cheaper?

I'm looking at the e1705's and im pretty sure that yesterday (4/23/06) to go from the ATI x1400 to the 7800 was like, an extra $96.00. today, (4/24/06) its only $40 more to upgrade. Now im sorta curious why the price drop (unless i'm imagining this) and why the delay is still 40 days. does anyone know about this "order" from nvidia and when it comes?

*(i also find it amusing that Dell misspelled NVIDIA on their customization page, for the e1705 at least. it says "NVIDA" i'm not sure its worth the extra $40 for a NVIDA card, but maybe its a new line? lol)

 

Dell always have various configs & deals running and it's like a game of cat and mouse. You might be getting less of something else (Screen, CPU etc...)

 

does anyone know whats up with the 40 day delay? any chance of it not being delayed soon?

wonder if its still like that. i want it soon. say i order it, and its not shipped within a few days, can i cancel it, and get the other option with no delay?

 

My strategy is to order it with the huge coupon savings (which expire very soon) then keep watching for something better to come out. What exactly do we have to lose? Can cancel any time.

 

good point. thats exactly what im doing. my 40% expires may 3rd and the other $100 off ends from what i heard May 1st. so, wait till may 1st to see if any other savings come up. im just afraid i'll miss the coupon by like, an hour. lol. but then im faced with the delay of the 7800. i read somewhere else on the forum that there wasnt an initial delay, cuz they were taking them out of returned 1705s, but once that supply from the returns runs out, then the delay kicks in. so the sooner you order it with the 7800, the better. unless they get more of them sooner, then there'd be no delay.

i also cant decide on the 100GB 5400 rpm or 60GB 7200. i dunno how big a performance diff. there is. im a little worried about space though, i like my music. and i dont wanna tote my 300GB ext. everywhere.

Also, since its cancel any time... so, i could order right now, and say, if tomorrow, a better deal comes out, i can cancel, and re-order? the problem i see there is that its a 1-time 4-% coupon, so you lose that coupon, which is alot!

i dunno, it seems to be a good deal, i cant think logically why dell would offer more $$$ off a few days before the 40% coupons expire. that, and i'd like to get my 7800 w/ out a 40-day delay. just gotta find some money.

looks like i wont be getting these sets of coupons. i hope they have something like this later in may or in june (should be getting a laptop then)

im gonna hold off till tomorrow. mainly because my dad says i cant buy it now, and im having one heck of a time convincing him that this is a great deal. hopefully nothing will change between now and tomorrow.

 

they will work in a couple of months? right now, its money. ill be more likely to afford it early summer.

 

the $100 off is out for everyone, as well as that $750 off. its my 40% that i got in the mail that not everyone can have.
