I can't find any tech specs on Nvidia's site about temp specs on this gpu. i have it overclocked core:338mhz and memory:929mhz in my E1705

i was running oblivion and i noticed fans were all the way high. temp was 82 C

    is this waaay too hot?

Thats not really all that high under load, being that high at idle would be another story, setting your fans to kick in high earlier could help keep the temp down if it worries you.

dropping your clocks back to stock should also help keep it cooler

When I game, I have my card OCed and my average temp. usually hovers around 78-80 degrees Celsius, so you're in the neighborhood of a good temp.

ok good. Another thing i noticed... when i have I8kfanGUI running, and i attempt to access the Nvidia Control Panel, the computer locks up and and i have to re-boot. whats up with that? I'd love to be able to open up the control panel to adjust clocks and have I8kfanGUI open to force fans to high and monitor temps. side note: if i boot up with I8kfanGUI off, Nvid control panel is fine. but if i boot up with I8kfanGUI on, then exit it out completely, then open the control panel, i still crash.

I cant run 3dmark05 with the nv control panel open, it always crashes after test one, if I close it runs just fine. I dont have that problem with my desktop 7900, just the laptop.

First off check for dust/clogged fans/vents,if you dont do regular dusting with compressed air, you will probably need to take it apart and really clean it out, then weekly or bi weekly shoot some air into the vents. Make sure you use habits dont inhibit proper airflow, then I suggest you take over your fans, set them to kick in ealier and faster, For dells that support it (1705/9400 do) I like using I8kfangui, its simple, effective, and free, a good cooling pad never hurts either, if none of the above help, call Dell pronto.

    What are your gaming temps?
