I just called Dell to setup a return and they kept trying to get me to keep it by offering me further discounts. They got all the way up to $150 before I told them to just issue the return so I could get off the phone.

Seems like anyone could just call up, ask for a return, then "settle" for the discount. Just a thought.

Yeah, that happened to me with my M170. They ended up offering $500 off.

It's funny you mentioned this because I tried to do it with my M1330 and they were like "ok, here's your RMA #"....

They didn't even try to talk me out of it. So, I guess it is hit or miss with trying something like this.

The refund/credit depends on how much you got ripped off on your initial price.

If your price was low to begin with, you will get the RMA for sure.

You're also eligible for 15% restocking fee, right? Seems they can make some money by having you ship it back, especially if you got it for a steal.

restocking depends on where you are located.
