Get rid of McAfee?

Does anyone know how to get rid of McAfee? I can't figure out how to get rid of it on my new 640m. Nothing in control panel, nothing in McAfee's program files folder, no options in the program itself... weird.

 

go to control panel -> add/remove program; it should be there i'm not sure if it will uninstall cleanly though... you know how antivirus are

if that didn't take care of the problem, try to contact McAfee, they should be able to help; you can even chat with them via their own internet messenger.

This may be a shot in the dark but have to tried it in Safe Mode? Why do you want to get rid of McAfee?

 

HI there I actually successfully removed mcafee. I went to control panel ,add/remove, but it wouldnt let me remove there anitvirus portion. So what I did was go to start, run, msconfig, and on startup shut off all mcafee files and restarted. Then from there go back to add/remove and it successfully removed it all. Mcafee is a pain in the butt but that's what i did hope it helps. For antivirus I suggest AVG free antivirus. It works well for me and I really enjoy a free program

 

The problem is that McAfee isn't actually in Add/Remover programs. I want to run AVG or zone alarm.

 

Make sure you get CCleaner and remove it from registry too. Sometime when you remove McAfee, it doesnt always remove 100% of the time.

 

yikes! dull (dell) really has done it this time! talk about annoying!

 

Since it is a new laptop just reformat it
