Any advice on getting them to do an on-site repair? Or even let me bring it in somewhere and pay the costs?

My girlfriend's m1330 has vertical stripes down the screen and it's been sent in twice now... and they've replaced everything BUT the screen! We know it's the screen because there are no stripes on an external monitor.

Also I was hoping they would extend the warranty another year since we've had problems with it (lately it's been randomly not turning on from hibernate).

    Ideas?

On site warranty is a higher level you pay for at the time of buying the laptop, I had it once it was ok.

But the chances of dell doing it when you did not pay for the service is about -100. One thing Dell is good at is telling you no.

You will have to send it in.

They will allow you to extend your warranty, but you'll have to pay for it. I believe for the bare minimum warranty it's $130 or so for a year's extension. This goes higher as you add more services (accidental damage, on-site repair, etc.) or duration (two years, etc.)

I lucked out hardcore - I had purchased Complete Care warranty a couple months before my computer entirely fried. This wasn't a strategic warranty purchase, just coincidental.

After 3 replacements and getting an M1730 (as a replacement for an E1705), they extended my limited warranty by two years to coterminate with my CC warranty at no charge!

As much as Dell pisses me off, I will continue to buy Dells because I know that they at least try to make things right, even if its a hassle to do so.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way sometimes.
