    Getting Wifi N for my Dell? Good idea or bad idea?

    I'm customizing my Vostro 1000, and I can change the Wifi G to N for $50.

    Should I? :confused:

    Do you have, or intend to have, an N router?

    If not, the G will do fine, and an upgrade is always possible down the road.

    If you absolutely have to have the latest and the greatest now, even if you have no use for it just yet, then yes get the card.

    Users have also stated that even with their b/g routers they got a better signal and faster connection with the wifi N card compared to using a b/g card.

    faster connection? i'm limited by my 6mb/s connection, i can't see how a N card or router can help me

    I have the wireless-N and it's the best card I've ever used in a notebook. Really good with G networks, fantastic with the N router.

    Not sure if this is true but I remember reading that if you order the Dell with wireless G, you will get 2 antennas but if you order the N your laptop will come with the 3 wireless antennas.

    The draft N spec requires 3 antennae.
