Most companies in my experience are willing to bargain on prices and to make deals or throw in some extras for free when buying a product. I've seen on these forums people who have managed to bargain with their Dell agent to get a price reduced, or to get extras for the same price. Any time I've ever brought up the subject of a better deal to an agent I'm met with an immediate rejection.
Have you ever managed to successfully bargain a better deal from Dell with an agent? What was it? Do you have any tips? Does it depend on the agent?

Never got a bargain either but I had 4 cancelled orders on my account and asked if I can be compensated when I buy a new Dell laptop. They said they'll refund $50 when I purchase the laptop and email them the order number. I doubt it'll really happen but that's the best I got

I chatted with a rep last night. Basically I asked for a discount, the rep refused, I said no thank you, and then they threw in free next business day shipping. It was the best deal I've been offered so I took it but we shall see if my laptop ever gets here. It took almost two hours on chat to put in the order, though.
From what I hear small freebies like NBD shipping are relatively easy. It really depends on the luck of the draw as to how cooperative the agent you get is. It's also harder if you start out with a cheap system or if there's already a sale going on.
There's a major thread on the Alienware forum dedicated to haggling Dell: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware/456885-aw-dell-ordering-advice-how-save.html
