    Hi everyone,

I feel that I am going to come across as greedy or hard-to-please, but I need to make a decision and need advice. I also apologize if this belongs in another thread.

    I ordered a 1645 on the 8th of January, i7-720, 500 GB HD, RGBLED, Bluetooth, 6GB RAM, Creative Xi-Fi, DVD+/-RW drive.

I originally ordered this machine for a video-editing project, and assumed it would arrive in a month (original EDD Feb 4th). It hasn't. I understand it is being subject to the RGBLED delay, and the EDD is now Feb 26th. I really wonder if it will arrive by even then.

I paid roughly $2100 CDN for those specs. I now find that I can price a Sony F11 sans RGBLED, but with a 256 GB SSD and Blu-ray writer for a few hundred less.

I am finding alternatives to work on my "project," but really expected to have the Dell right now and am frustrated with the sales process (my original order had an extra battery tacked on and other charges, which took several hours worth of calls to fix).

Is the price I paid reasonable? Realistically, can I talk to Dell and get some kind of compensation (e.g., the Blu-ray reader that is now available, etc.)? How would I go about doing this? My experiences with the phone reps have been anything but positive. I'm tempted to tell them I want to cancel my order (which I nearly do), but can't see myself getting a deal doing so.

If I can have any advice, I would appreciate it. Please PM me if you can tell me something that cannot be made public.

I will end by saying that the work Bill and others have been doing is wonderful, and the throttling issue is not my cause of upset. I'm just feeling shortchanged.

    Thank you, everyone.

Any advice? This is the first and last time I'll try "bumping."

    Thank you.

The thing is, they cannot really change your current order, so if you were to say want to add an option/remove an option, you would have to re order, which would bump you back to the end of the queue.

Just for information, can you call this order status hotline and tell me what status it says your laptop is in?

I hadn't noticed, but it seems my thread has been moved into a different folder since first posting. Thanks to whoever did this.

I didn't know about that number; it may have saved me several hours on hold. However, it's telling me that my order was shipped to the carrier, on November 23, 1999. Sigh.

If they can't change my current order, can they give me a discount at least?

It's strange that people that ordered after me with similar specs (including you) have earlier EDDs. I'm now reading other threads in this folder, and it seems a few others are in my boat.

    Thanks for any advice!
