There isn't really a set protocol for getting rid of the stuff. Either you can go the easy but less thorough route of uninstalling the things you don't want. Or you can reinstall Windows and start from scratch, which is recommended and not hard. If you've never reformatted there are numerous threads about it. I'm not familiar with Vista so I can't help you with that.

This guide is good even though it addresses XP because it tells you what the partitions are and what you need to install after you format.

    Hi Hines ,

try using this software http://www.yorkspace.com/pc-de-crapifier/ . It does remove some of the bloatware from the system. I wish some one could write up a proper guide to format and reinstall vista step by step.

hines, you should just reformat your whole hard drive. That's what I recommend. It's so easy and takes like 20 minutes.

Ditto. Reinstalling Vista on a clean hard drive is actually painless and short than XP.
