I received my laptop on December 10th. I waited until January 11th for the gift card before sending an email to my sales rep, the same one who helped me with the purchase. She said that the gift cards were handled by a third party and could take up to 6-8 weeks instead of the 30 days I was originally told.
So with still no gift card in hand, I'm wondering if I'm the only one having this problem.
And actually, the more I think about it, the more I realize I may not even need the card. I've already upgraded the ram to 2.5 from NewEgg. Only upgrade worthwhile left to do is the vid card, and I've yet to encounter a game that is unplayable now. (Besides, the 8600s are over $100 last I checked) I can't think of anything worth buying from Dell, but I definetly know I could use $50.
Therefore a side question of mine is: if possible, is there a way to sell the Dell gift card - ie, Craigslist - or is it encoded to only work in my name?

In the past, I have recieved physical gift cards from Dell, which worked like a "debit" card. This allowed you to mak purchases below the value of the gift card also...

It is handled through a third party and may take 6 weeks, for me it took about a month after I received my laptop. You don’t receive an actual card but instead a sales code via email. The catch is that you must spend the entire gift card at once, with the purchase total having to be over the gift card value amount, before taxes and shipping.
Anyone can use the gift card/code, I’ve seen a couple of them for sale on ebay, but they weren’t going near their face value.
Gift Card question; those who ordered in Dec.
