    Hi everyone!

When I first got my Inspiron 1420 (a month or so ago), I wrote a review for it on Dell's official website. About three days ago, I got an email from "Dell_Community" thanking me for the review and saying that I was one of the "highest contributors within the Dell community". The e-mail then said that they were offering me a free gift for the contribution and that, if I wanted to receive the gift, I would need to send them my full name and address. My question is... Is this legitimate? I'm just a little paranoid to be sending out my info. Has anyone else gotten an e-mail like this and received their free gift?

    Thanks in advance!

Copy the email and post it here. Also, include the subject line and the email address.

Dell usually asks to verify that many times...what i would do is email dell themselves and ask if they sent it.

Oh, can you link your review too?

I think it's a scam. Dell should already have your personal information from when you made your order and would likely have a CSR send you an email informing you of your free gift and as such would not require you to send them any more personal information. Take a good look at the email address the original offer was made from.

what are they going to do with your name and address... send you spam mail? Just don't send any private information out and I'm sure you'll be fine.

    Yeah...probably a scam.

Did you give out your email address with your review? Like what detoxguy has said, Dell probably already have your complete personal information, so they shouldn't be asking for this...

However, since the email is NOT asking for anything more than your name and address, something easily found by opening ANY yellowpages, so there really isn't any harm in giving them that....what is the most they can do? Spam your mailbox? However, if they DO ask you for ANY additional information besides the 2 listed above, then DISREGARD the email...probably a scam.

Of course, to be safe, you could always give them a fake name and a legit address, that way you'll still get the price without compromising your name. Even better....reply and ask them what they are going to give you....and see if it really is worth the hassel....
