I had my laptop for about 3-5 months w/ vista and I think I want to go back to XP.

Now I'm getting blue screens (not my ram this time) and apparently not shutting down properly. Also, when I check my logs, it seems to either be system errors or application errors.

I will be reinstalling, but should I go back to XP or stick w/ vista?

I use XP as I bought this computer for gaming, and Vista is known to be somewhat slower than XP for that.

My friend was getting a lot of blue screens with his Nvidia Geforce 7900gs. They replaced everything in his notebook and eventually replaced the graphics or motherboard and has been working fine since. If you are under warranty I would find you can get that fixed. But If you like Vista reformat your hard drive reinstall and if its not working then try XP, if XP doesn't work right its your laptop. Personally the only issues I have with Vista is on my desktop with my sound card.

I think it started to happen when I partitioned the HD in vista for linux then I got rid of linux and repartitioned vista to take the whole space without installing.

come to think of it, I think it started to happen w/ the latest windows update and I shut the system down because I thought it was locked up.
