As excited as I was to get my new Dell 610 with 1400x1040 SXGA screen, I think I'm going blind. The resolution is killer good, but it's also way too small for my older eyes.
I've tried adjusting DPI at 1400x1040 and that helps a bit, but type now looks weird and out of perspective.
I've also tried changing the screen size, but you lose significant sharpness and clarity going to any other screen size.
I do wear glasses (progressive tri-focals), which I'm sure is part of the problem. But I've never experienced this on any other screen before.
I hate to send it back so I'm hoping someone will have some ideas.
Thanks.

Have you tried to see the same resolution on different brands? I had 9300 with 1400x900 and had more trouble reading it than I do on my A30 with 1400x1050. It really depends on the LCD itself (whoever makes it, how whites/blacks are displayed, how transparent versa flat it is, etc).

Are you able to change the refresh rate on the screen? You can also try a different color scheme. One of our sales guys had a problem like this, the bright whites on web pages and Microsoft Office apps were irritating him. So I changed the bright whites to softer grays. I also dimmed the screen a little. Apparently he had the monitor on full blast in a poorly lit room. So his text were pretty thin due to the saturated whites. Try lowering it to a more comfortable level.
