The subject pretty much sums it up. I was looking to get another battery along side the 9 cell battery I got with my order of the m1330 because I'd like one that doesn't stick out like it does with the 9 cell.

Upon looking most come up over something like 120 or up to almost 200 dollars... if you ask me that's kinda ridiculous for the cost of a battery. Does anyone know where 4 or 6 cells can be had at a reasonable bargain?

If you had done research before hand, you would have known that the 9 cell battery sticks out and also buying batteries with the notebook is significantly cheaper than buying them separately.

Batteries can explode, cause fire, damage your notebook, property, pets and family. It can even be fatal at times. Many faulty and recalled Dell batteries are available for sale as brand new. I suggest you cough up the additional money and buy the 6 cell battery from Dell rather than eBay or other unscrupulous sellers to avoid the above mentioned issues.

eBay is your best bet. Look for bulk sellers and buy a whole lot. You can keep what you want and sell the rest for a good profit!

Uh.. well I didn't expect criticism on my research, but given this you have to kind of agree that this isn't explicitly stated when you're configuring the system that any one of the batteries they offer sticks out like that at all with the m1330. You're just given a choice of what type you'd like and naturally I wanted the one that would last me the longest without being plugged in. The order is already shipping so it's not like I can tack on one from Dell at this point anyway.

Being a owner of prior laptops in most cases you really don't expect any batteries not to be flush with the system. And uh.. thanks for the public service announcement about the dangers of batteries that I didn't really ask for.

Yeah I'm not buying in bulk when I only need one. As much as it sounds fun to be provide m1330 batteries at fair and competitive prices, I'm like.. not the guy to be taking up that super hero costume, but thanks for the suggestion.

Dude, I am sure he (or is it she) meant researching on forums like these and not on Dell's site. If Dell was clear about everything, forums like these wouldn't have existed.

No offence intended! Sorry for the critical tone! :)

Since the order is already shipping, you can call Dell and tell them that you had forgotten to include additional 6 cell battery. They will usually agree to send you the same for the discounted price.

If they refuse or quote more price for the battery. Tell them you will return the notebook and reorder again. This will force them to consider your offer!

Ugh.. you know what's funny. I call them up not long ago to see what I can do about adding the extra battery to the order, right. After keeping me on hold for about 15 minutes they say that the department they can transfer me to handle that closed "just 6 minutes ago" and to instead expect a call between 7am to 7pm eheh, oh well -_-

Dell called me back and we got to talk about the situation with the battery and they just up and sent me a 6-cell at no extra charge out of their own convenience. Wow, problem solved.

    Yes, very nice.

I thought I had added the 9 cell to my order. Turns out the 9 cell was not on my order and I did not discover this until 4 days after my order was received. I was on the road when I placed the order and did not have a chance to review the order conf. until the laptop was received

I called them up and explained the situation and they told me I was **** out of luck. I could return the laptop or pay full price for a 9 cell.

So much for a bit of latitude when it comes to making a mistake on a $1500 purchase.

You are extremely lucky! Do try your luck in other ventures, who knows what you'll end up with! ;) Going by your posts, I am sure you approached the Dell staff in a very sweet manner rather than screaming, shouting and making a scene. It must have surprised them too and they in turn bestowed you a favor!

Just wanted to update my battery situation.

When I got to the "returns department" I once again explained my situation. The lady was nice and agreed to send met a $100 certificate for the mistake. She said it would be mailed to me so we will see if it actually shows up. If it does I will indeed get the 9 cell for $80 and change after the $100 off.

    Stay tuned......
