Do you think this is a good deal? I thought so, found it at the outlet.
-
$1100 at most.
It would be a good price if you had the 750-760 P-M, the 9 cell battery and 1Gb of ram. -
Get the least RAM possible, and then upgrade afterwards - save you a few bucks there
It seems a lot though still in my opinion. -
he can't get the lowest ram possible because the 9300 isn't even in production anymore, and all outlet laptops are stocked -- no customizing.
Honestly, it isn't worth it. All laptops are changing over to the dual core, and you could almost get a new 9400 for that price.
If you could find one around 1000, that would be alot better deal. -
Do I really need a duo core processor if the notebook is for gaming?
By the way, let me clarify the price and specs..

Any new comments or suggestions? -
If you are a gamer or want to do heavy-duty multi task (like use a TV tuner to watch tv and record the show), then dual core would benefit you more than getting a 9300 right now.
Simple multi tasks like websurfing while listening to music -- dual core wouldn't be very beneficial.
If you are a gamer and like to play 3D games, then you'll want to get dual core. -
I didn't think games utilized both processors? Do they? If not, why is a duo core better? Thanks.

I agree $1000 - $1100 -

That's not a good deal. Although it has the Go6800, everything else is fairly basic.
In the what-to-buy forum, we have an FAQ you can fill out, and we'll give you a better recommendation based on your needs.
Chaz -
Right at this very second most games don't utilize Dual core processors(Quake4 and a couple more do), but you will see nearly every game released in the second half of this year supporting them. Dual core is the future for gaming and everythings else. While it is definitly not needed it in no way hurts performance right now if you get DC.
IMO the price listed above is a horrible price. Just before Christmas I had a New 9300 speced out with a 1.83 PM 512MB, the 6800, 60GB HD and 3 year warranty w/ complete care for $910 before ship and tax. A more current deal(two weeks ago) would be the Dell e1705 which was speced out with a 1.66 core Duo, 1GB RAM, 60GB HD, 7800go, 1 year warranty, and DVDRW for $1183 before tax and shipping. Watch the deals if you have time because that isn't a good price for what you get. -
Looks like I'll hold off. Thanks for all the help. =)

You honestly don't *Need* Dual Core for gaming, very few games are optimized for Dual Core, though more will be in good time. If your a DIY guy you can make a 9300 do all kinds of neat stuff like, stuffing a 7800GTX into it which will trash the 7800 Go, as well as Pin Modding the Processor with say a 1.8 Dothan to 2.4.
Theres differing opinions as to whether it will destroy your warrenty but since your looking at the Depot this might interest you irreguardless of the warrenty question
If you go that route however I'd try to find the absolute lowest spec 9300 with maybe the WUXGA screen and get everything else (Proc, Graphics, RAM)
Good Deal on this 9300?
