Just wanted to share some encouraging news....

Both sam4jc and I independently received updates today (via e-mail and online chat, respectively) indicating that out XPS M1330 dates had been moved UP!

I believe his order was placed Aug 13, with shipping moved a day earlier from Sep 7 to Sep 6. Mine was placed Aug 10, the original ESD was Sep 7, and I was informed that my order is now scheduled to ship Aug 30 - Sep 1.

This is a huge change from last week, when a rep said it was likely to be Sep 17-19. Both orders are for pretty similar black 1330s with LEDs going to Canada.

HCW, I am aware of the battle that is raging regarding the "info" you just posted above, at the xps m1330 shipping status thread. I don't wonna accept or reject it. I wonna hope that you are wrong. I would like to think that :

    Resolution Specialist/ Spécialiste en Résolution
Preferred Accounts Division, Dell Canada Customer Service

knows what he's doing and is in the know about the supposed "hold".

    * thinking positive * ;)

I got an e-mail and e-mailed back and forth, and SnowKarver chatted with a CSR.. and I agree it should be in the sub-forum. :D

Thanks for moving this...I opened the thread in the main forum by accident.

LOL This is a great illustration of WHY i need this M1330 pronto. My old ibook G3 is so slow that half the time, I'm not sure exactly what page is loaded into the browser at the time I hit "Post". :p

As for the hold, I ain't saying there is one, and I ain't saying there isn't. I'm just passing on the info that sam4jc and I received, independently, over the course of today from seemingly knowledgeable sources of our own.

My laptop just went from build to testing to boxing in just today!!! I don't think there is a "recall" or a "hold up" unless I was one of the first to get through it. I'm so excited!!!

HCW, I have a question - my XPS M1330 moved from "Build" to "Boxing" this morning. Are you sure about the "engineering hold" ? I'm genuinely curious, as I have an ESD of Thursday (08/30).
    Thanks!

status means very little at this point and time . They have been getting alot of complaints about orders moving from shipping back to preproduction. Heck my replacment was suposed to ship last week and will be in a holding pattern for at least 2 more weeks. I can only hope that dells get's rid of these bugs

I've seen some folks complain about that, but I must admit that I haven't seen that many. The last few days have had posts from folks that have received their machines earlier than expected - and not just for the XPS M1330. "Engineering Hold" seems to indicate a serious problem with the machine, and to be honest with you, other than the expected complaints (it is a new product after all), I haven't seen that many serious issues with the XPS M1330.

Maybe I'm just telling myself this because this time next week I should have one sitting on my desk :)

We call this the "HCW Direct Line" Its a red phone, old manual one with the circular dial wheel. Its got a red button on it that flashes when he calls. The room goes silent. All the engineers look at each other....

"Oh no its HCW!!!" There is an ominous silence about the room as each wonders whos gonna answer.

Suddenly a little guy jumps onto the board table. Its "Elmer J. Fudd"!!! Yea Elmer!!!!!

He answers with enthusiasm, "Yes HC???" He then puts the question out to the crowd with the added caviat, "Comeon somone make something up quick!!!"

    Thats the HCW link!!!

This is very encouraging news indeed! I ordered on Aug 13th myself, but my ESD is still at Sept 18 to this date; with the CSR's telling me I'm still in build stage. However, if you and sam4jc do indeed get yours that soon, hopefully I will get mine early too. If my date bumps up, I'll post the new ESD on this thread.

And why is that? Part of working with these reps is to keep things under wraps. Posting their desk or cell number publicly is just irresponsible and does not reflect credibility at all. I'd decline to post a number as well if asked.

That's the thing. These aren't customer reps. These are corporate employees who have been going above and beyond their line of work. They do not deserve to be inundated with bitter complaints from random customers.

how the hell the thread about good news degenerated to discussing HCW and his (nonexistant) contacts? Oh, and Chuck, HCW lost credibility not because he refuses to post his contact's info, but because none of his info turned out to be true in the past ;)

No...and I hate to say it but thats not correct. I wouldnt dare reveal my source. He is responsible for a great deal and he understands that I have returned the favour in many ways. If the contact is as high up as many say, he risks giving the wrong information out. There have been instances of info here that arent public yet.

Its all timing. If you have the info, its a matter of using it to your credibility by putting it out there at such a time there is no risk of losing your source.

Its also a question of whether your information is benefitting Dell or not. Dell monitors this thread very closely; I would dare to say there is at least one amongst us who is responsible for that who pops in every now and then. I personally have given my opinion on much here that Dell might be concerned about if they didnt read the whole story...most of what I say in the end has helped Dell immensely.

A good example of that would be my ability to sort through sku problems or the number of systems that were delivered at the exact time as mine arrived. I think I reported shortly before that there would be an executive expedite...and there appears to have been. There was alot of panic on system delays at just that time.

So in the end.....much of what i have done is soothed the panic that is caused by our friend here.

When I speak to my source he laughs. Its pretty easy to tell who I am as I am probably the only home buyer in Canada to get 3 systems. The monitor gets through to him and he laughs at me when we talk on the phone. At times he thanks me as well.

In the end its all information sharing which benefits all that is the most helpful.

So can we afford to give up those oh so high up that have used us to put out fires??? No, its a two way street.

That would be an interesting choice. After all, he has gained a great deal of his credit over his review but on the other side, he'de be risking all that considering the huge amount of site supporters that would like to see you banned.

They may not know the intricate details happening on the manufacturing floor, but sure as hell do know the orders going out to them. Information is passed back to them from the floor, and depending on severity will affect what they do.

I'm not here to take sides, and I hope no one was expecting me to. I can only post what I know. As I've said, I've neither credited or discredited what HCW's been saying. To be honest, I don't know and haven't heard anything about it, but that doesn't mean it's true.

Stop painting me into a corner people! ;)

NO NO NO! Flamenko's got it all wrong! The phone doesn't have a circular dial, because it doesn't NEED a dial! You just pick up the handset and it dials the appropriate party automatically; can't be messing with actual dialing at that level of the game...you lose critical seconds in getting your hot info ;)

HCW YOU ARE SUCH AN IDIOT CAUSING PANIC TO THOSE WHO HAVENT GOT A SYSTEM LIKE YOU!

    SHUT UP ALREADY!

Mods sorry but someone had to stick their foot out and say this. Look at my true record of the number of emails and thank you responses I get every day here. If you want to ban me for saying something that HAD to be said...its your decision.
