Hey everyone! This is my first post but I've been lurking for a couple months now. I just bought an XPS m1210 from the outlet about a week and a half ago, and it just arrived last week. I'm wondering if I got a good deal...at least I think so. Can you guys give your opinon? Here are my specs:

    XPS M1210

    "Previously Ordered New"
Intel Core 2 Duo processor (1.86GHz/667MHz FSB)
    1G DDR Ram
    Integrated graphics
    120 GB 5400 RPM SATA
8x DVD +/-RW w/dbl layer write capability (Philips)
    A/V Communications Pkg
    3945 802.11 a/g Wireless Mini Card
    Bluetooth 355
    65W 6 cell batt
    XP Media Center 2005
    1 year limited warranty (base)

    Price: $960 (taxed & shipped)

A newly configured system with the same specs will cost over $1500. (A savings of over $550). The reason I asked for opinions was b/c of the video card. I'm not a gamer so Integrated graphics is ok...especially with the couple posts about the new Vista Aero interface having no problems working with it. I pulled the trigger b/c it had everything I wanted BUT the Nvidia card.

    Thanks for everyone's input.

(P.S. I haven't gotten passed the EULA screen yet. Wanted opinions first.)

That seems like a good buy. If in fact it was just ordered new by someone before and not used (or used very little), it is an pretty unbeatable price. If you don't require the nVidea than you will maximize battery life.

If that's is previously new, and when you get it that is one flawless notebook, I'd say that's a beautiful deal.

Cool! Thanks for all the input! Yeah, I inspected the whole lappy and couldn't find a blemish on it! It even SMELLS new. The only thing that kind of gets me worried is the "increase volume" Media button on the front panel. It seems a little more depressed than all the others. But when I power-on to the EULA screen it brightens up when I press it...so I guess it works. Another gripe was that the power brick that came with it was kind of dusty. Like it was dragged for a while on a really dirty rug. Yucckkk....

Also, I'm a newbie linux fan. So for an experiment (while I was waiting for your input here in the forum) I placed my Mepis 6 Linux LiveCD in the m1210 and booted it with F12 just before the EULA showed up. Everything ALMOST works! The only things that couldn't be recognized was the Logitech camera and the Bluetooth. Luckily there are already a couple sites on the Net that have a fix for this. Everything else was good "out of the box" even the Intel Pro wireless WITH WEP encryption. So the first thing I did was connect to the web. I Googled for "lcd dead pixels". When I tested the LCD I COULDN'T find a dead or lit pixel!!! TOTALLY AWESOME!! Unfortunately though I still don't know who made my LCD (eg. AUO, Toshiba, LG, etc...)

After having read all your input I now feel pleased about my purchase and definitely think it was a great deal!!! (Buying from the Outlet kind of got me nervous at first, but I'd buy from there again now! It only took 2 months of constant searching, heh.) Windows Media Center here i come!

    Keep those opinons coming!! ^_^

Looks like a great deal to me. Makes me wish I lived within a hundred miles of an outlet store. I paid three times that for mine.
