I am looking for a new laptop for school, and I have been looking closely at the Dell Studio 15. I have a couple of member discounts on Dell.com (I have built this same one on the dell website), but they don't seem to do enough to match the low cost of this one from BestBuy:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...urple&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1218041998162

Can someone tell me if I am missing something huge about this particular computer?? Thank you

Looks like that might be the old Studio 1535 rather than the Studio 1555 that is now on Dells website. Only reason I say that is because the 1555 has firewire and the screen size on the new Studio is 15.6", and the lowest resolution is 1366x768, whereby the model they are displaying is 15.4" and 1280x800.

So I don't think you are comparing apples to apples.

The Best Buy model is an older version of the Studio 15. The ones on Dell.com are the new models.

Fragilexx, the 1535-1537 models had FireWire as well.

But the point is, he and Streetmagus are right. That Best Buy link is for the previous generation of Studio 15 notebooks, which have some physical and internal differences from the new model 1555. Given that it's got the Intel 4500MHD, I think it's safe to say that this particular model is a 1537.

Note that all these previous generation Studio 15s (1535, 1536 and 1537) have been discontinued by Dell. The Studio 15 that you can configure on their site is the new 1555.

Speaking as someone who has owned both a 1535 and a 1555, I say go for the new one from dell.com if you can. It's a much better machine in basically every regard.
