Hi all. I've been looking into getting a new notebook and with the help of this site and others, I've pretty much decided on the E1705 from Dell. I haven't been following the price over the weeks so I was wondering if the below config is a good deal.

    Intel Core Duo Processor T2500
17 inch UltraSharp Wide Screen UXGA Display with TrueLife
    2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
    120GB SATA Hard Drive
    8X CD/DVD Burner
256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS
    Intel PRO/Wireless 3945 802.11a/g Mini Card Dual Band (54Mbps)
Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal (2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate)
    6 cell battery

All for around $1620 shipped. I tried to build the same on on dells site and depending on what I started with it always worked out to 2200-2400 after their current promotion. Looks to be top of the line except the battery and T2500 instead of T2600. Seems good but I thought I should check with the people who know. Thanks.

That IS a great deal. I got mine for $1670 shipped off Ebay. Yours has True Life which I would definitely recommend. I hope everything turns out great.

Oh, don't forget to get some recovery disk's. Dell preinstalls a crap load of software you don't need. I remember when I turned on my laptop, it had 86 programs that loaded up. Yeah, now I have 33.

Thanks for the replies. I've decided to buy. It's off ebay and the seller has one left at item 180011476511 if anyone else is interested. I'll be using it for college but don't want to lose the ability to play games (though I don't expect to have free time). So I had just wanted a 7900 GS but seeing the extra memory, harddrive, and processor on this, I couldn't pass up this "high end" config.

I wish I had gotten that laptop but my parents won't let me use Pay Pal. :p Oh well.
