My sister ordered a Vostro 1500 on 8/13. Today (8/16) she recieved an email telling her that they are already shipping it!

Isn't this kind of weird? Could they be sending her a computer somebody else had returned?

Also, she wants to know if she doesn't open the package and returns it, does she still have to pay the restocking fee. :p

You have 30 days to return without a restocking fee....Dell Satisfaction Guarantee But why does she want to return it? It definitely won't be a refurbished model, I don't see why they wouldn't send a pre-built system that was canceled by someone else though

Vostros tend to ship out fast. It's the inspirons that are having problems.

Pepper--I had a similar experience with my Latitude D630. Ordered 7/19 with an estimated ship date of 8/2. Actually received on 7/24--Received over a week before it should have been shipped!

    So all is good!

I hope mine ships soon. My situation kind of sucks. I ordered Monday during the Vostro sale, and then wanted to change my battery order. When the sales rep tried to do it, he accidentally deleted the previous order. When a new order number was assigned, the ESD went from 8/24 to 8/27. I need it by the 29th, and I am concerned that I won't get it in time.

It's a Vostro 1400 with a 1440x900 glossy screen. I chatted with Dell about it, but they seem unwilling to upgrade shipping to Next Day--they simply tell me not to worry about it, and that it will almost positively ship earlier than the ESD. It just sucks that the delay was due to a service rep's error, and that the error isn't readily apparent thanks to the assignment of a new order number.

The Dell status number says my order is still in the Build stage.

Are Vostro 1400s generally very quick shipping as well, even with the 1440x900 screen? I thought there was some sort of LCD screen delay going on.
