My battery after only about 9 months of use (had the computer since August) had its wear level at 70%. I used the chat and he told me to look at the Battery Health tab after hitting FN+F3. Mine says, "Your battery can no longer provide sufficient power to your system and needs to be replaced."

So the rep decided to replace it for free.

Dell sells their batteries for so much. I ordered a new one from ebay for $60 a few days prior to talking to Dell versus $150.

I suppose that such a rapid wear on the battery in that span of time warrants a replacement.

most likely they are going to request you send it back or else they will charge you for it. At least that is what happened to me

Yeah, I am going to have to send it back but it is practically useless getting 30 minutes of battery life.

Between when I started this thread and this post my wear level has grown 7% from 70 to 77 and I only used one charge between then too.

About 6 month since I got my laptop, 9 cell battery is allready showing 37% wear level. Should I ask for a replacement or sould I wait a little longer ?

Dell went off the battery info by hitting FN+F3 and decided to replace it based on what it said. I'm not sure if they have a policy regarding wear level.
