So I originally ordered my laptop about a year and a half ago with a WXGA+ matte 1440x900 LCD. Recently I had it replaced for a failed backlight. What is confusing is that this new LCD is glossy and still apparently 1440x900 (not a WUXGA LCD). As far as I know Dell hasn't offered a glossy version of the WXGA panel for the Inspiron e1705 which is what confuses me. Is this a new part that Dell recently started using? Or am I just missing something.

Most likely Dell doesn't even stock your old matte screen anymore. Whether this is better/worse is up to you ;)

This screen is definitely far better than my old Matte screen, so no complaints here haha. I was just confused since I didn't know they offered a truelife WXGA+ screen, I would have definitely bought it if they had offered it when I purchased my laptop.

I'd almost rather have the Matte screen. Sometimes the glare is too much.
