Hey guys,
unlike most here, i am very satisfied with my new 1520. Since i have first turned it on, i have written down anything weird that has happened. I have a few questions about some problems and if some people could help i would really appreciate it.
1- When it wakes up from sleep mode, the display will go straight to 1024x768 resolution. It is so annoying to go in to the display properties every time and switch back to 1440. Also, the touch pad takes forever to turn back on when coming back from sleep. This may be the software starting, but it didn't used to take this long to turn on. These are the worst problems i have so far.
2- I use Itunes as my media player, and i really want the media buttons on the front to work for for this program. They work when it is maximized, but when i minimize it, only the volume works. WMP works even when the program is minimized. I tried locking itunes in the taskbar, but the volume stopped working when i did that. Can i make them work for itunes at all times??
3- The last problem i have is with the free AVG i am using. Sometimes this thing gets on a role loading these boxes that say a program needs attention and is not able to display on the desktop. Even when i go to it and exit out, the boxes still pop up and just go to a blank screen. Is there anyway to keep that program out of the background or is it always like that and just comes along with a free AV??
Thanks in advance for all the help! I do have the headphone noise but i don't believe that has been solved yet so i won't even worry about asking about that. I appreciate it...BUD

Hi there.
1. I've heard of the resolution problem many times before. I'm not sure what the solution is (if there is one), but you might want to do a search on these forums. You're using Windows Vista?
Edit: I did a quick search and found this. Updating your GPU drivers might solve this problem, give that a try.
2. The subject has been discussed before. Have a look here:
Have a look at your AVG's preferences and options and see if there's something about that there. -
Guys,
I figured out the solution as soon as I got my computer (about a month ago). All you have to do is go to the desktop, right click, go to Nvidia Control Panel, Click Display, Click Change Resolution Attributes, Set to wanted resolution.
Now, save this and quit out of it. Right click on desktop and hit personalize. Go to Display Settings. Change the resolution there. Save it. Close, and you're done!! Restart and test out on sleep mode. It always goes back to 1280x800 for me now.
Hope this helps. Any repping is appreciated. -
well so far...i believe the display is fixed...but the link to the multi-tab thing for itunes does not work with the newest version of itunes. Is there any other updates??

I started having the same issue with AVG this week. It comes up on the first use of the day when AVG updates its database. It has a popup dialog to confirm that it's updated. That's the window that Vista is now, for some reason, unable to display on the desktop. I've been running AVG under Vista for about a month without this problem, so perhaps they've done some update that's not quite compatible. Doing some Googling, I only found one page that mentioned trying to reinstall AVG doing "run as administrator." I haven't tried it yet, though.

ahh gotcha...well at least someone else has the problem...it can be quite bothersome after it pops up 3 times in a row and says nothing but "update is complete"...it's like, come on dude, i know your done i don't care!

Oh right, you're using Vista. That's probably why you get those pop-ups and I don't get them (since I use XP).
My guess is that the issue will eventually be fixed by Microsoft or Grisoft.
I did some research for the iTunes problem and I'm sorry but I can't find anyway to get those media buttons to work wtih Vista (yet). I also don't use iTunes (I use Winamp) so I have no experience with it. -
yeah i used to use Winamp also for years, but now that i got the new computer i have yet to download it...i might have to try it out again.
Got a few problems...
