Hey all.
I ordered my E1705 through the 30% off offer, literally hours before it ended.
Here's what I got:
17" WUXGA
Core 2 Duo T7200 2.00 GHz Merom core
NvGo 7900GS 256mb
1g 533 ram
80g hdd @ 5400
...standard everything else...
Subtotal: $1,156.40
Shipping and Handling: $19.99
Shipping Discount: -$19.99
Tax Total: $96.83
Total: $1,253.23
Now, my sole concern about this beast is, how ugly is it live? Is it actually worth applying vinyls/stickers/etc to it, or is the thing decent looking on its own?
Thanks

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, my friend.
Some absolutely hates the current "white bumpers around silver chassis" design. Some are indifferent to it. Some love it (since its not another monolithic black blob).
Live with it for a few days first, and after then, should you proceed with "Extreme Makeover, Dell Edition". -
It's not that bad.
I'm an all black person myself, so, even all silver would kinda meh to me.
What gets me, is the bumpers have an obvious painted look about them, right down to the masking where the white hits the silver.
It's not ugly, it's not good looking. It just is. lol
Here is a HUGE picture of it from the Dell website. -
I have seen these in person... just ordered one myself... they actually look pretty nice. The white bumpers have a glossy finish, and the silver is matte. It goes together pretty well. After my warranty goes up in a year, I think I will do a custom spay job to it

great choice.. in term of spec i mean..
well, the e1705 isn't all that ugly, it is just toreable enough. when u own it; it is just a tool; nothing that u would adore. i actually saw this in person; and it is actualy better in person, but don't expect too much in term of beauty. -
I prefer all black notebooks also. I just bought an e1505 and to me it's ugly but functions well. One thing I don't like is how the silver finish wears off easily in a short period of time especially where your hand rests when using the touchpad.
Got a great deal on an E1705... Now what to do with the fugly?
