Prior to receiving my 1330 last night, I was starting to worry about the quality due to this board, but mostly from seeing it in person at staples. The model they had in staples was a poor representation of this laptop. I am happy to report that not only do I not have any noticeable flaws or problems, but I am alway blown away by the beauty and build quality of it. Also, the screen (toshiba) is beautiful and I am completely satisfied (so far). I have got mostly everything setup and am happy with the performance thus far. However, there are two things I am struggling with that I hope the forum can assist me with.

    1. Media Remote - The user's guide does not go into detail about this device, and maybe it doesn't need to. However, I cannot get this thing to work. Is there a trick or step that i am missing? I put in the battery went into media player and it doesn't seem to work.

    2. Fingerprint Reader - Another device that appears to be self-explanatory, but I can't get it to work. During the step where you are asked to do 4 test scans, I always get bad quality scans. What am I missing here?

    Thanks,

    JD

The fingerprint reader takes alittle getting used to.You have to kind of "rub" your fingertip into the grove. It also helps if you moisten your fingertip by either touching your tongue or breathing warm air onto it. It sounds silly, but even fingerprint scanners costing thousands of dollars (ie...like the ones in police stations) won't pick up the print on dry hands.

    1. Make sure you have the battery in the right way (it can go in upside down). Also, it works on IR, so you have to make sure you are pointing the remote at the laptop (beside the camera, I believe). Lastly, I believe the remote only works for WMP and mediadirect/media center.

    2. I find I don't have to moisten my fingers at all to get mine to work. However, it doesn't take practice. At first I couldn't get it to work, but then I realized that you have to push your finger flat quite hard onto the scanner...in fact, harder than feels comfortable at first....but it works for me now...and go relatively slow...
