Great machine, really!!! Somehow I managed to luck out and get the LG 1680x1050 screen too! I had called and talked to customer service just after ordering, requesting an LG or I would be returning my computer. They told me that it was impossible for them to get me an LG because they were no longer able to stock the LG's...only samsungs. I was about to cancel my order right then, but decided to wait it out and figured I would at least see how bad the samsung was. I was shocked to find an LG and let me tell you, the display is GREAT. No complaints what so ever - might even be one of the brightest and clearest LCD's I've seen yet. The 1680 resolution is PERFECT too, I wouldn't want any bigger, I wouldn't want any smaller.

No other issues, everything is exactly as I expected or better. Build quality seems to be excellent - I'm really happy with it. Just thought I would post it up since there seem to be so many negative comments lately about the XPS's.

I got the 200 gb, 7200 rpm hard drive, 4mb ram, T9300 processor, windows ultimate, and some other add on's. I really couldn't be happier. Hopefully some of you guys have good luck with getting yours. Took about a week to get here after ordering.

    Sweet! :D

Note: A happy Dell user just posted, an occasion some seem to regard as mythological at best. :p

Yep, just got mine a couple of days ago. Even with specs a lot lower that yours (see bottom), the XPS M1530 runs great for high performance tasks and gaming, and I love it...

If you were to plug in a pair of headphones, do you notice any hissing or 'computer' sounds being picked up? Or is it clear without a hiss?

Congratulations on winning the Dell LG Lottery by the way!

congrats on you and I am envious of you getting it so easily.

but why do you guys like the LG better than the Samsung?

is there any serious difference between them?

Is there any thread in which XPS M1530 owners can post pictures of their laptop to let people see how it really looks ?
    Thanks

    Congratulations!

I love mine too. I had an M1330 before the M1530, but I sold it and got the M1530 because the 1280 x 800 resolution on the M1330 was too low for me.

My M1530 has twice as much RAM, twice the harddisk size, a faster processor (T9300 vs T7300) and better graphics (8600M GT vs 8400M GS) than my M1330 and it was more than 30% cheaper too! (I got the M1330 in October 2007). Ofcourse it's bigger and heavier, but portability wasn't one of my main requirements.

My M1530 feels like a really powerful machine. :)

yeah, it should be. you say you saved this time more than 30 percent with better spec than your old M1330 , this is why you shouldn't spend too much on a laptop , cause we upgrade it often and the newer a computer , the better value with much better spec(always).

I'm not sure why everyone hates the speakers so much. Granted, there isn't a lot of bass in them, but with the volume up they can be really loud - as loud as any other laptop I've ever used.

Just got mine last week same specs as OP with the exception of I got the BR drive (movie nut) & the 1440x900 screen. So far I absolutely love this laptop. Best build quality and features of any laptop i've had in the last couple years. And watching BR movies on this thing is an absolute dream. And for those that are curious I got the AUO screen and it looks great to me, no graininess and perfect backlighting (ccfl).
