I am impressed with this notebook. It came with barely any bloatware and it s a very nice design.
The screen is very bright and the resolution is nice with the wsxga (not too small).
It is a bit heavy but nothing that my new bag wont be able to carry around.
I am overall very happy with this unit and will be making it my out office pc..

Do you plan to carry your laptop everyday?
I have 15.4" screen and it is taking a toll on my hands and shoulder taking it back and forth everyday from work and home. -
cool, swordfish01, i was considering the d830 but i got the 1520 instead. glad to hear you like it.

chong: It's a bit cumbersome to walk around with it in hand (as I do whenever I take it down to the pooldeck for a smoke - that's 18 floors down), but as I carry it out in a backpack (Nike Core, if you're interested) the weight doesn't bother me as much.

I went with a brenthaven bag and it is no big deal.. The shoulder strap is real comfy.
This laptop is for when I leave the office and go on the road, but my home desktop still does the major of the work.. -
Recently setup my treo 700 so that I can grab the internet connection on my laptop... decent speed , so I have been using it when I cant connect to any other network.
-
How loud is it? Can you hear the fan?
-
very quiet... i barely hear the fan.
-
How do you get a internet connection on your laptop from your Treo? Curious as I would like to set it up as well.

I didn't like the screen on the 2 D830's i had.. this was the 1680 x 1050 one though. Terrible contrast.
Nice laptop though solidly built and got the Express card and PCMCIA card slots..nice touch. -
I use PDANET to connect to the internet from my treo... google it.. it is cheap and easy to setup...
Got my d830! Awesome!
