I just swapped out my 80gb 5400 rpm drive that came in my 1520 for a new hitachi 7k200 200gb 7200 rpm drive, and the differences in HD tune have been surprising.

First of all, the transfer rates have gone up considerably! The old drive got speeds of:
    min: 21.0
    max: 44.3
    avg: 33.9

and the new drive gets speeds of:
    min: 32.4
    max: 63.0
    avg: 52.0

However, the burst rate and CPU usage took a dive with the new drive. I tried rebooting and checking out the drivers, but everything looks okay there. The old drive got 94MB/s for burst rate, and had a CPU usage of 2.6%. The new drive is only getting 45.8MB/s burst rate, and has a CPU usage of 14.9%!

I'm thinking that there must be something wrong with this, since the max and average transfer rates are faster than its burst rate. The high CPU usage is also concerning me. I ran this test a few times and kept coming up with the same numbers...

This is on a fresh install of vista. I turned on AHCI mode before installing this time, could that be a problem here?
