I am almost postivie I have a grainy screen, correct resolution and color settings. I check and its a SEC screen. I'm requesting a replacement... I just thought that samsungs were safe...?
-
what exactly is the question here?
-
First of all they are Seiko, not Samsung. and no they aren't safe.
-
i have a vostro 1400.. how do you check the actual screen type? the manufacturer?
-
^ check device manager

Do the non true life screens have this issue?
I would not think so because It seems like the graininess and the dirty look of the screen comes from the added shiny film or coating. NO matter what you change as far as colors and other settings go, it will look the same. It's like drawing on your screen with a marker and then trying to fix it by changing software settings.
Just horribly made screen in my opinion. -
The matte screens do not have this problem, the problem is caused by the industry "standard" coating they use on the screens.
They try and make the screens diffuse light to reduce glare with a texture and this can cause the sparkle effect. -
how long do you think it will take for me to get my replacement laptop?

I received today my new screen in a Box (supposed to be 1440x900) ... Of course, I'm calling Dell tomorrow and ask them to send a technician, I won't touch anything. Nevertheless, I can't find where phisically indicates what brand is, if its Phillips or Sec or something else. Does anyone know where to look?

if there is no sticker on it ... you will have to wait till it gets powered up to tell in the display info
