    Hi guys,

I was just wondering... does every LCD screen have some graininess to it? I just got a 1525 with a WXGA+ screen, and it seems to me that there is some graininess. The screen is an LG according to it's hardware ID.

Its not that bad, but it somewhat irritates me. What do you guys suggest I should do?

    Thanks

If you aren't satisfied, return it and rebuy. Alternatively, you could complain and see if they'll replace just the screen, or you could just live with it. But now is the time to act. ;)

are you sure its grainy? ask someone else for an opinion.. you might be so worried about getting a grainy screen after reading about it here that you're seeing things that aren't actually there :)

    I'm curious,

What's the hardware ID of the LG screen you have? I have the LPLDF00 1400-900 display. I keep hearing that LG screens are better (and they might be), but mine definitely has some grain to it. It's most noticeable on a white background. To be fair, the 'glossy' screen (coating/film) might contribute to the problem. I can live with mine - the colors and the viewing angles are very good.

I think all of the new 'glossy' LCD screens will suffer from some grain problems. I recently checked out some notebooks at the Apple store and at least half of them had serious grainy screens. Even the newer LED screens had some grain issues (much brighter screen though). In my opinion, notebook screens in general will not be as good as a separate monitor. I wish Dell still had the option for those matte screens....

Yeah I have the same screen.

All I know... my Toshiba had no noticeable grain to it and it had never crossed my mind either.

I have the same LG screen - (LPLDF00 1400-900) on my 1530, and I have had no problems with it, at all. ;)

It is working great for me ;) :)

Cin, what are your display settings (contrast/gamma, etc)?
